Hello 👋 , I am new to vintage Bang&Olufsen. I just bought Beomaster 1200 with Beovox 800 speakers in pretty good condition (speakers themself are like new).

I discovered that i have to change speaker cables because they are damaged and require new connections. I was thinkign about adding banana socket to speakers, so cables would be removable. Any opinion/tips for this?

Also on Beomaster 1200 I am thinking about changing main power cable (I think it is original) because it's high possibility that it would be braked somewhere. Also my friend electrician suggested that it would be good idea to use contact spray on some conections. What do you think about that? Any advice on what should I do?

Thank you for your answers. Keep in mind that I am new to vintage sound systems, so please have patient with me. Smile

What a nice setup.

Bananaplugs can easily short. I would never use them for speakers.
If the speakers captured cables are bad, I would replace them and fit new DIN plugs.

Beomaster 1200; Contact cleaner, yes.
Ideally it would need a service kit. They all do by now.
If the mains cord is damaged, it should of course be replaced.

And what about bananas that are isolated ? Is there any other way to make them plugable (so I don't have to open them when someone accidentally do something with cable).

Main cable isn't damaged, it works, but it seems like it's broke inside on several places.

Could you point me in some service kit or manual for it ?

Thank you.

Speakercon - but it would look modern (as would insulated bananaplugs), and either way they would no longer sit flush to the wall.
But why would you want to unplug them at the speaker ends?

Just for convenience. If you want to place them on the other place, further from beomaster, you just need to replace cable, don't have to solder new ones. I was thinking about it and this shouldn't be my problem so I will just solder them right inside.

Do you have some manual or anything for service kit on beomaster ?

A service kit is available for the Beomaster 1200.
Pm or email me.
