So i cannot get digital sound from my sky q optical output. If i use a optical to 2 phono i get stereo sound. If i connect my DVD 1 i get sound.

So what am i doing wrong?

Just use an optical to coaxial converter. Then several soundformats will pass and decoded by the BS3. But if the output from the Sky box is DD+, then the BS3 won't decode.

Thanks for that info. Ive tried a coaxial converter, still get no sound. Changed from DD to DD+, still doesn’t work.

Have you changed the spdif setting in the BS3 for the socket you use?

I know this a novice question, pardon me. Do I need a converter if I wish to connect LG tv optic output to bs3 spdif input for better sound quality or is there a magical cable that can be connected directly from LG optical to bs3 spdif ?

Yes. Selected the audio via spdif
