Hi,
Long time lurker here and finally gave in and registered as thinking of dipping my toe in the B&O world.
Currently use Sonos which does everything I need but the lack of info on the B&O website / support docs leave so many questions unanswered…mainly using the B&O app on an iPhone / pad. I emailed support and told no which I find odd.
Can I play music on the Level / Emerge that exists on my local network? I have a NAS and it also has a DLNA server which I can toggle. Also which music services if any are integrated in the B&O app.
Is there any way to set an alarm to play music from my local library ?
Can alarms be set to play a radio station?
Alarms again… can they be set for a duration / or is there a snooze function?
many thanks
Welcome to the forum
I have an Emerge and you cannot use the B&O app for more than playing "Bang Olufsen Radio" and control the volume and settings.
There has been promised an update late this year so that it will have NetLink (multiroom with other B&O devices).
It supports Spotify Connect and Google obviously but Bang Olufsen Radio is the only integrated service.
There are no alarm functions for Level / Emerge.
Basically the new platform that Emerge/Level / Balance is built upon rely more on Google and that you use Chromecast or Airplay.

Thank you for your help.
If Airplay or Google (Home?) were used would that help me at all please?

Well, that depends on if you have an app on e.g your phone that can access your DLNA content and support Airplay or Chromecast.
Maybe other forum members have experience from that.
Have a look at the 8Player app.
I used to use that a lot earlier on, when I played from my library - AP and CC support.
A very good app, that is still updated.

New Mozart devices don't support DLNA streaming from the B&O app, but to my understanding (haven't tried) they still supported being selected as DLNA target from other DLNA-enabled apps (without having to rely on Chromecast/AirPlay).
Is this not the case? Can please anybody try?
^^^ Yes, please, "somebody"... Also, please could you test:
The ASE 2 gen devices had a DLNA support feature: They did not need any app active to keep on streaming once a playlist was setup: Just tap the top of the Beosound1(2gen) and it picks up, in direct communication with the server, right where it left off. I don't know if this is normal and the app you referenced has the same effect? (Many thanks for your effort, if you continue to follow this thread.)
For local network playing you can use one of many apps to access the music on your LAN and use Chromecast or Airplay. I have used VLC Player in the past and that seemed to work fine.
With the alarms the easiest way is to use the Level or Emerge with the Google Assistant built in. You just say 'Hey Google set an alarm for 8AM with (radio station name) and away you go.
If you want an alarm for every day instead of having to set it every evening just say 'Hey Google, set an alarm for 8AM every week day with (radio station name).
Also works with every Monday/every weekend etc...
When the alarm fires you can say 'snooze' or 'snooze for 10 minutes' etc.
Apart from the setup you won't need to use the B&O app unless you would like to fiddle with the sound profiles or check software.
If you have a music service such as Deezer or Spotify these can also be integrated with the Google Assistant or use the native app with Chromecast or Airplay.
Hope this helps, John (B&O Manchester)
Hi John, many thanks for your comprehensive reply. I was almost about to give up but using Google Assistant seems to be the way forward. I will probably now get the Emerge and see how I go.
No problem, let us know how you get on.
All the best, have a lovely weekend.
