Hi all,

I plan to install a projector and 2 pcs. 2nd hand Beolab 5’s in a bar in my house.

An Apple TV 4K will be connected to the projector

I am using NL in all other rooms in my house (BL18, BL50, Harmony, M5’s, 3 pcs. Halo, etc.) and I want to ensure I can also use NL in the bar.

I assume I need to connect a core to the BL5?

For audio, do you recommend I connect the projector audio directly to the core or directly to the core (maybe by optical) ?

What is your recommended setup?

^ Not sure what the differences/updates are, but there's a version 1-9 of the handbook here also:  https://beointegration.com/uploaded/EN-BeoLink-handbook-v1-9.pdf

So it's just Network Link.

Thanks

Yes, and I do not have a gateway, etc. so I guess it is a fairly simple setup.

I want to ensure I can use my Halo with the BL5 for e.g. Deezer Hifi. Therefore, I assume I need to connect the BL5’s to a core.

I would like to know if the Core can be used as described above?

I must confess that I am a bit puzzled by your question/s.

Well, of course you can use the BS Core with the BL5’s - I don’t see any problem………as long as you follow what is described in this thread:

https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/38918.aspx

And you can control the Core with the Halo etc - and you can join in to what is playing somewhere else….like you are used to.

(Of course only if all are one the same network - but I really don’t need to mention that, I guess).

As for the sound from the ATV4K (with the projector) I would aimply go into the sound settings of the ATV and ask it to use (the Airplay function of) the Core as the ‘speaker’. You don’t need a physical connection for that - as long as your wifi is stable.

This can be a little tricky, since the ATV often tends to forget this and it has to be reconfigured - here is how to workaround it:

https://youtu.be/wb4-U0TUB0Y

If you prefer the physical connection, just connect the optical out of the projector to the optical input of the BS Core…this should autodetect, when you start playing from the ATV. If only an analog output at hand on the projector, please use the analog input connection on the Core with the fitting RCA/minijack cable.

You might instead use a HDMI Audio Extractor (with HDMI passthrough) connected directly to the ATV…..in case there is no audio output port on the projector (which is unlikely, though).

Thank you, this was exactly the information I was looking for. I heard talk about the issue with the core and the BL5 but I did not know how to set it up. I prefer a physical connection so I will follow your recommendation and add an optical cable between the projector and the core.
I am not sure how I will adjust the volume when using the projector but I guess I can use the Halo and maybe even the ATV remote.
Thank you for the valuable input
