I'm looking for a way to turn my projector on/off when switching from my beovision 4 to my projector when using the beosystem 3.

My projector (mitsubishi HC6500) has an RS 232 input, and i've tried connecting this to the cinema output of the beosystem 3 with no luck. Are there any settings that need to be in place/changed for this to work?

Are there any alternate ways of achieving this same result? Can i use an IR blaster to turn the projector on/off.

All help is appreciated

hi joakim!

the rs232 connection on the bs3 is for the cinema control and is assigned as follows:

Cinema Control connector

Pin 1 N.C.
Pin 2 N.C.
Pin 3 N.C.
Pin 4 N.C.
Pin 5 GND
Pin 6 Cinema control 1 timer (Open Collector Output 1)*
Pin 7 Cinema control 2 timer (Open Collector Output 2)*
Pin 8 Third party lift (high when lift should be raised) (Open Collector Output 3)*

Pin 9 Cinemascope screen signalling (Open Collector Output 4)*

*) During power up and power down no changes are allowed on output

# Limiting values:
Voltage: 15V max.
Current load: 100mA max.

so the only possibility is to connect a lintronic TT455-RT-238 to the cinema control connector and to program the appropriate rs232 commands for your projector. certainly not the easiest and cheapest option. (page 7 link )

but there is also the option of having a b&o service technician store a puc code (ir commands) in the bs3 with a service tool. these can then switch on your beamer with an ir blaster with the beo4 command format-o (cinema on). however, i can't tell you if your beamer is in the b & o database.

Thanks for your reply, the IR solution sound like the simplest option to try out first.

I'll bring my Beosystem to my local dealer to see if they can update the PUC list and maybe the software as well while i'm there.
