Look at http://www.myoliveone.com/   2 Germans CEOs that are working in the opposite side of B&O. Open-minded project which can be delivery step by step  in July 2013. Bang & Olufsen should be inspired to listening his customers, instead to work in secrets. Sincerely congratulations to Olive's Team. Pascal - beofan from Alsace / France.

I am intrigued by it as we'll, however who says this doesn't have the same problems as apple iPods with missing coverarts or b&o and gapless playing.

I am very careful these days when it comes to new products ...... Very few thinks I am really satisfied with in the end.

Olive is doing some cleaver marketing and money-raising there, I think,

The product? Lets see how much 'different' it is from other DLNA-based devices, when/if it arrives someday.

Nice design though - but I prefer my iPad/Playmaker-combo!

I don't get it. It's basically an iPod Touch in a round base.

Well, at least you have a way of plugging things into the BS5/Encore, and, more importantly, the screen is bigger and has tactile controls.

The olive, however, is just a rectangular screen in a circular hat box, so what is gained by that over, say, an iPod touch?

Not at all Electrified ! Look at the technical specifications. To resume, it is a new high-end Hi-Fi system with 32bit DAC and dual amplifiers in class D. I like the Interactive conception with engineers, designers and customers ! :-))

32Bit dac, lol. As if anyone can tell in the real world.

Two amplifiers, you say? So, I take it's for passive speakers. Does it have line-out? Digital? Analogue?

I like the idea of interactive design. But usually that results in lowest common denominator. You need some specialists to have more say than others, be they employees or customers. And even then, there's a risk of feature creep. Inbuilt amplification for passive speakers in 2013?

I'm just waiting for two-way with the Beo6 (in the Encore). I'm not in a hurry, though.

Buy a Plamaker, build a round case for an iPadMini - there you go.

No need to wait for some fancy Olive-device Whistle

What do an sharp lad wrote to me.....  "You can wait the next 1000 Years for 2way control your Encore".....:-)

I´m very excited about the new Beosound - if it really get true...

Perhaps, the new Beosound will be an Controller how an Ipad or even an Olive-One?

Why i think so?

Because you can spend the BS5 a ML/NL Converter, a 2 Way Solution, a better handling, and all this in a new, for some people better looking packaging.

But the really thrill in controlling your music is the way you can make it from your sofa or bed or something else... Isn´t it?

So much people make this with their Ipad´s and Playmakers an some else...

Perhaps, they will bring a Controller Unit for Music, Lights und some else :-) Therfore a Beosound/Beo Combo....

Hats of to olvie for doing something which I think looks really interesting, love my Bang & Olufsen I know they have the playmaker which personally I don't like. Like the encore but think its to expensive for what it is.

Agree with you Kai. I will never buy an ugly Playmaker with a standard DAC. Waiting for a more elegant solution from Beo.

Well, unless B&O keeps the BS5/BM5 on the market (which I hope they're not: The BM5 is a huge box), I can see no reason why they should not come out with a software/firmware update to allow it. It already works on the BS5/BM5 combo. In fact, I bet that it's a matter of altering a switch in the firmware from "False" to "True". They can do that when they stop selling the less attractive combo.

Other than that, it seems there's a 25 percent permanent discount on the Encore, so it's now DKK15k, which isn't that much all things considered. Add to that, that the Olive will most likely cost around that - or perhaps even more, depending on final specs.

The Olive One is being marketed at £300 - £400!  NOT £1500-£2500

Sorry, I thought it would be priced between the 4 and the 5 from their range. Let's see how it is specced when it comes out.  We know for a fact that it will have 2x35w amps (lol), and that they consider that to be "hifi".

On another note, although I like collaborations with customers, I'm a bit worried that an established company has to raise money from the public before they bring something out on the market. It seems they're running zero risk themselves.

Electrified, i have the same opinion than you, but why are they soooo slowly with that.

Certainly, i asked my dealer what´s the reason for the BS5 discount. He told me, it was an B&O offer to reduce the Price for the 5 and the Encore when you buy a pair of Lab´s too....  This campaign should be so good, and they sell a lot of more Beosounds that they will reduce the price to the current level....If it´s the truth - i don´t know....

That can't be true - I mean what he told you, not that he told you. You can buy the Encore for that price without buying anything else.

Yes, that´s now the fact, that´s the price without a pair of Beolab´s Smile , and it will not be the forerunner for replacing the 5!

Edit: Oh sorry, i ignore, you have wrote CAN`T !

Right the BeoSound 5 is cheapier today. Not fair for people who paid full price. Maybe Beo want any stock of BeoSound 5 before launching a new model.  I hope the new Product will have a nice price. :-))

In all honesty, I don't care if things fall in price with time. If I thought it was worth it when I paid for it, it was worth it. End of.

@StUrrock "Then spend all day rebooting things and wait for the playmaker to re- appear back on the network!"

I haven't touched my Playmaker since the day I set it up (I bought one as soon as they came out in DK).

It is just there (well hidden away) and does it's thing - no problems there.

Both the BS/BM5-combo and the BS5E was reduced - quite a lot.

Speakers are some times sold cheaper with a tv - next thing will be a campain with BL8002/6002/4000 at a reduced rate.

That is the way Bang & Olufsen does things today - get costumers into the shops, give them a good offer they can't resist!

Proper iPad control of the Beosound 5 would be awesome. By this I mean full control of most of the functions including net radio. It won't happen as it will cannibalise sales of the the Beo6.

Sometimes I think B&O sit down and start with 'how can we make this as hard as possible'....
