My beloved TX2  has an issue where the platter speed wavers after it has been in operation for a minute or two, and gets worse after several minutes of operation, both n 33 and 45 mode. the belts are just  two years old, the slides have been recently greased. Could this be a motor and/or board issue? Or would this point to the belts? Any info would be most appreciated.

Correct belts or something bought off Ebay etc.?
Speed trimmers OK?
Motor lubrication OK?

I purchased the table from a dealer on Audiogon, and he stated that he had just replaced belts. As to speed trim and motor lubrication, I have not looked at the manual since setting up where the stylus drops on 33rpm. Sound wise, the effect is almost like a subtle speeded up phase shifter, where you have a normal speed and then a slight drop, but the drop happens so fast and so does the recovery. I will have to look for the manual and see what I can see.

After lubing, I attempted to adjust the speeds. I noticed then that the back of the platter was so low that the record I placed under the test disk was touching the deck slightly. I adjusted the platter height and was wondering how it could have gotten so out of balance. Then I realized that what must have happened is that by placing the XT2 on top of the Rogue 88 Magnum, the rear spring that is used to suspend the platter and all had heated up and dropped the assemblage enough to silently cause the platter to drag in the back (cover closed, inaudible to me) causing the speed fluctuations...thanks for the reply Dillen!
