I’m sat in the Middle East bored to tears, and unfortunately my Beolit 20 just isn’t cutting it in the large apartment I’ve got. I’ve tried turning down the bass with the app but it’s still quite boomy.

I’ve been looking at my local shop and have been offered some good deals on the Stage and a Beosound 2. The Beosound 2 is cosmetically my favourite and sounds fantastic, but the Stage also sounds great and will probably be more flexible. Has anyone listened to both and compared them?

Regards in advanceYes - thumbs up

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

I have both. For music I far prefer the BS2. I was in an apartment last summer until our new house was completed and the BS2 was our primary speaker during that time, and I even hooked a turntable up to it. It sounded and looked great, and I really enjoyed it. The Stage is great for TV/movies, but I don’t love it for music. Just my 2 cents. You might also consider the A9 or Level, both of which have ARC, which could help in a large apartment.

I have 2 x BeoSound 2's, an Edge, Balance, 2 x Stage, Level and a BeoSound 1.

Out of those, the BeoSound 2 is the standout performer by some distance, although Level (slightly flatter sound) is more practical - you can move it around as it's on battery. I use the Level on my balcony and back garden, too. Maybe for that reason, the Level. But for audio performance, BeoSound 2. Depends if you want to move your speaker - if so, go Level.

I was in the same predicament a month ago

Based on Moxeys advise and upon listening to stage an BS2,  for me BS2 was the winner.  Really amazed at the sound volume from it

I have both and love them both, but they are totally different. If you want to use the speaker connected to your TV, the Stage is way better. Not surprising, because this is what it is made for. However, for the same reason it has also some limitations. The sound if very directed to listeners in front of it. It is not good at filling a big room with sound. Bass is however very impressive, clean and detailed and surround capabilities are amazing (although not comparable with a real surround system with speakers in the back). The Beosound 2 on the other hand does not have the bass performance of the Stage, but is has a very pleasing, crisp enjoyable sound that will spread nicely in the room. In practice, the combination of the two in opposite places in the room is a very nice solution because they complement each other perfectly. The bass of the Stage perfectly blends with the Beosound 2 and the Beosound 2 nicely spreads the higher tones. Also, having two speakers in a big room makes the sound less directional which is much more pleasing to listen to.

Thanks for all the comments. I’ll go back to the shop and have another listen. Just as a thought, I wander what two Beolit 20s in the same room and connected would sound like!

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

The bass would still be boomy.

Chris,

Also perhaps consider how long will you be in the Middle East?  Will you have to travel / pack it at a later stage, then maybe the BS2.

I have the BS1 and I love it, but the BS2 is great.

In your place there if you have a non B&O TV then i would go for the Stage and then use it as both TV audio and as a Sound Centre
