As I will move a big part of my equipment in a new flat, I will (normaly) be able to drill some holes to place surround speakers.
The surround speakers will be located on a wall at 2 to 3m at the rear of the ears in "normal" viewing position. So I'm wondering what is the best :
-Place speakers at ear level
-Place speaker above ear level, just under the roof.
To me, ear level is more logical, but I'm not sure I would like this solution visually, AND if you go in a theater, rear speakers are always placed above ear level, not at ear level.
So... What do you think will sound the best?

Best is ear high, but if under the roof, direct them to your ear high pos. you wont hear much difference.
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
mine are placed on stands behind the settee at ear level!
When a member is online, it seems to hide their membership level from me?
Also, the 'member online' and 'member offline' text is a little fuzzy. Was it a smaller text which has been forcefully enlarged (if such a term exists! LOL)

PS - Also, when i'm making a post, it shifts the four adverts to the far left (i'm on an iWoop and Safari). Once the post has been made, it shifts back to the middle.

just looking at me and my membership level is not there but yours is!! we are both online?
It's all that gold providing a shield, thus not being able to display yet more gold..
Crazy fools.

I've heard plenty of speakers mounted above and pointing down, plus i've heard plenty of speakers at ear level. I'm lucky enough to get to hear many systems on my travels - and in my experience, speakers at ear level sound better.
You have met me, do you think its an uncanny resemblance?

Well if you remove the gold, the stocky build, the facial hair, the hairstyle and general err.. 'dark tan' then i'd say you were definitely identical twins seperated at birth.. Yes. Uncanny.

Behind the listening position and above ear level is my personal preference, but I have dipole surrounds in my home theater setup.
If the sound level and/or delay time is adjustable for the surrounds on your receiver (or surround processor), placement doesn't matter much. Just adjust the output and/or delay to your taste.
