Having been plagued by unsolicited calls and random silent calls (when, presumably, someone in the call centre fails to pick-up the connected call) I decided to read through the Beotalk manual. Sure enough, you can enter calls you wish to be rejected and the Beotalk will do the rest without the phone ringing at all.
Why didn't I check this out before?
Much better than having to pay BT or another service provider a monthly fee for the same facility.
Another B&O feature 10 years ahead of its time!

The problem is that it doesn't seem to be able to deal with withheld numbers or overseas calls. These make up the bulk of the calls in my experience.

Give it a go Graham, if it even takes a portion away its worth it.
I must admit I mean to set these things up but somehow never get around to it.
If I get these calls I just say two words..... and hang up.!
It is possible to detect withheld numbers.
I have ours programmed to announce "Anonymous" if no number is shown.
I'll have to take a look and see how I set the 1200 up, I can't recall off hand how I did it and I am away from home.
I think it involved calling myself up from a mobile phone while withholding the number and then saving the "number" as "Anonymous". From there it would be possible to add this to the numbers to be rejected.
I was going to give these anonymous numbers an extra message telling them that as their number was being withheld they should leave a message and I would call them back if appropriate.
Luckily, due to legislation here in Germany coming into force companies are now obliged to show their numbers when calling, and "cold-caling" is forbidden completely. High fines have been imposed on companies not complying. Unwanted calls are now very few and far between, so an extra message was not necessary.
The announcement feature is the only reason I still have the 1200 running. Messages are now taken by my Fritzbox which forwards them on as an email.

Tim
Just make sure that you don't reject calls from your local B&O dealer or is that the idea
