My current setup is BS9000, BL3 + BV6-26. I would like to get some new speakers for a surround sound setup, and I'd like to throw it out to the group for some advice. My current options are:

  1. BL6002 (for use as rears)
  2. BL8002 (for use as front and use current BL3s as rears)
  3. BL11 (no rears and not ideal as live in 1970's flat with timber floors)
  4. ??

I would like BL9, but these are sadly out of budget and would look too big in my current setup.

When I bought the BL3's I thought about the 8000's, but went for the 3's as there were newer technology and sounded a bit better for my type of music (alternative / rock / indie - Foo fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, KoL, etc).

I am going to have a store listen on Saturday, but would appreciate any opinions fror fellow B&O fanatics.

Thanks, Ian

No contest for me, I would get another pair of BL3's. four of them sound great together, with enough bass to mean you could live without a subwoofer for now!

Honestly I would not drop much on rear speakers. Maybe used BL4000. Maybe even BL4. They tent do get only little use in movies and giving the small TV I sense you are not big on movies anyhow.

I do have the BL2 with my BL3 and love it for music.

One thing I found was that sound was much better connecting the BL3s to my BS9000 then going via my BV8 TV. I woudl try that out before you throw more money at the setup.

So give BL2 and BL11 with BL3 a whirl, test the sound with speaker connected to TV and BL9000. Then make a call if you still want rears.
