I have bought a cheap beovision 11 with the old software from 2012. But I cannot the software update working, I only says fail.

I have tried:
- update online wireless
- software update via USB with software from B&O
- reset the television

What more to do to try a software-update?

I don’t think there is anything else you can do. The tv should update automatically when powered on. The only conclusion I can draw is that B&O might have stopped the server updates due to the age of the television. Maybe there is nothing more to update anyway? I haven’t checked when mine was last updated but it was a while ago I am sure. I have the 11-46.

B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.
11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.

I’m pretty sure the last update was to add the internet radio option and that was a good few years ago tho later than 2012 definitely..(I seem to recall late 2017 but nothing thereafter). And that internet radio has now stopped broadcasting the bbc radio stations as the bbc have withdrawn that option in favour of the bbc sounds app as far as I am aware. There have been discussions on here about the bbc issue.

Yes I know the difference of the software. It is not why I made this question.

What I am asking is how can I make it besides from the options I have listed up at the start. See my first post.

What to do besides from the USB and wireless update?

I have tried with a usb with software from B&O, do not work. Can I somehow use a service menu?

Try Ethernet instead of wireless. Some of my older devices only update over Ethernet.

I will try that, when I have found a 20 meter ethernet cable and taken it along the stairs and so on :-)

Easy enough to find on eBay.

Other alternatives:

- use an airport express to wirelessly connect to your router, then Ethernet between the BV11 and Airport Express.

- Powerline transmitter & receiver. Connect transmitter to router and BV11 to receiver via Ethernet.

Also, is this a Beovision 11 with a Beo4 remote, or a BV 11 with a Beoremote One?

The Beo4 would have used an older MasterLink chassis, and therefore my guess is that there were no other updates as they moved to the new NetworkLink chassis, where I think the Avant’s last software (NL) update was 2019, which was then superseded by the Android platform which is now superseded by the LG platform

was there ever a ML version of the BV11??

We bought one really early and it was our first NL tv.

And this BV11 came with a Beo4. Later on one could switch sw wise to a BR1.

I have found TP powerline adaptors to work very well in extending signal from the router via your mains wiring and then you can use a short Ethernet cable out of the second adapter to the TV.

Fair point. It was a guess because of the remote.

There never was a ML version of the BV11.

Together with the V1 they were the first NL products (including the Beosystem 4).

Just as the Avant 1 Gen they were IR based - and therefore were initially controlled by the Beo4 (navi version).

The first Beoremote Ones were entirely IR based.

You could/can choose in the settings which remote, you want to use, but basicly they both work similar.

With the introduction of the Avant 2nd Gen (the Android based version) and the Horizon came the BT based Beoremote One (which also includes the IR part for backwards compatibility).

MM

There is a tv - and there is a BV

I got in touch with b&o recently regarding BBC radio stations not connecting on the BV11. They told me to do this which worked:

  • On the remote press Menu - options - press GO
  • Now press the RED button then GO. (customer service menu)
  • Go to settings - reset to default - reset N.Radio to default - Press GO
  • Turn the TV back on after 1 minute. (It might reboot by itself)

Rob.

Hi Rob,

I’ll give that a whirl when I’m home from holiday. Thank you for the information and I’m sure I’m not the only one who would appreciate being able to get BBC radio stations again.

Thanks Rob that worked a treat. Please can other members who have had this problem note that this solves the BBC Radio stations problem so far. Getting into the service menu is still a bit hit and miss, but once in, this trick worked and the Tv rebooted itself - Hurrah!
