Hello guys,
I have exactly the same issues as described here: https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/22235/183904.aspx#183904
but on Beocord 5500. If you do not want to read the inserted post, Beocord 5500 plays fine but goes to standby arter 1 second after rewind/fast forward started. I checked the mechanic for issues but find none. How can I test that the belt is the origin of my problems? Or are there any other thing I should check?

Put a scope to the protect signal.Did you buy belts off Ebay, then that's probably the cause.

I changed drawer belt only so far. The mechanic belt is still original one I guess. I just do not want to buy a new belt, do all replacement for nothing :-D I was looking into the service manual of 5500 but I am not sure if I find proper "place" to measure protect signal you mentioned. Is it the following I/O? :
This 15 I/O is going from tape head.
Thank you very much for your help!
Yes, that's the protect signal. It should stay high while the motor is running.A low will cause a stop function (and usually standby).
If the belts were never replaced and the drive never serviced and lubricated, it's safe to say, that it will need it by now.Belts etc. here.
So Dillen you were more than right. There were the following gear mechanism glued by dried vaseline. I cleaned it, check the rest and now machine works.
I have one of these, it plays but I think I will order that kit from Dillen, to rejuvinate it. It's still running on the originals
