Steve at Sounds Heavenly: Hi Puncher, Capacitance of the new cable in pF/m is 65.5 (Core to core) and 124.6 (Core to shield). Frequency response tests to follow...... Kind regards, Steve.
Hi Puncher,
Capacitance of the new cable in pF/m is 65.5 (Core to core) and 124.6 (Core to shield). Frequency response tests to follow......
Kind regards, Steve.
I was thinking I could use something like Tasker C128... + wakeup for amp in other cable binded to Tasker. Reason for this is like yours, original cable is wery thin for relatively long lenght.
blah-blah and photographs as needed
Hi Steve, did you ever get around to making these cables?
B&O in my life 😊:
Hi Steve,
I ordered new cables a month or 2 ago and I finally gotten the time to replace the existing ones with your new ones.
We were blown away with the difference your quality cables made with my old ones.Even my wife ( who would gladly just listen to a tinny bluetooth speaker) was amazed with the difference. We're enjoying listening to our music all over again.
The speakers are BL8000's in complete original state from the late 90ies, the old cables were original B&O ones I bought about 10 years ago.
So yes, I think good cables can make a world of difference.

Thanks! Really pleased to hear that my cables improved the sound. To answer Jaffrey's question - yes I do make the improved cables - please get in touch via my sponsor link below and I will be pleased to assist further.
Steve.

Steve, I actually did similar a few years ago, making up my own cables for use between a Beosound 9000 and Beolab 8000s. Although I spend a lot of time wearing an 'audiophiIe' hat, I am somewhat cable agnostic; basically I do believe different cables sound different, but I don't think they make the night and day changes some would have you believe. That said, I think a minimum standard is necessary for decent performance and I felt B&O's own skinny Powerlink cables fell a bit short of this.
As I recall i used two lengths of Van Damme coaxial cable for the left/right channel signals and some multi-core shielded cable for the control signals. I encased it all in cable netting and it didn't look too bad!
And the result? Well, lets just say the improvements were not subtle - better imaging, a richness across the midband and better bass extension from the 8000s. I actually shared my findings on the old Beoworld Forum and had the p*ss taken out of me and a few light insults thrown my way, too. Luckily I'm a big boy and I got over it!
The cables fell out of use when I needed longer lengths and I couldn't face going through it again, as the biggest pain was trying to squeeze all that cable into a DIN plug. Anyway, I then found some place called Sounds Heavenly and their cables are chunkier than B&O's and seem pretty good...
P.S. - thank you for the lightning fast turnaround on my three RJ45-DIN Powerlink cables - they arrived today!
Thanks Adam!
Yes, the VanDamme cable is particularly good, especially when compared to the original Powerlink cables. For longer lengths over 10m, the difference can be quite easy to hear.
I have had a few enquiries about the high-end cables this week, they are still available but I'm making them to order rather than listing them on my website at the moment - the store has been so busy that I'm struggling to keep pace at the moment when the high-end cables are on open sale!
Glad to hear that the cables arrived quickly!
