Hi All,

I have recently purchased a pre owned Beovision 4 50" complete with Beosystem 2.

The issue that I am having is that I receive picture when directly connecting through component cable to Beovision 4, however when I am trying to connect equipment (Sky HD Box, DVD player) via scart through the beosystem 2 I do not get any picture at all. I cannot even get the menu screen to appear when pressed on the beo 4 remote.

Please help!

It is probably something really simple, sorry guys new to B & O.

Hi,

thanks for getting back to me.

The Screen is connected via RGB and Rs323 from the BS2 and via scart from Sky HD box to the Decoder scart input on the BS2.

I have not got anything configured as of yet as i cannot access any menu screens. Just a blank screen!

I have connected the sky box directly to the BV4 via Component cable and i can get a picture but cannot access menu screen.

Many thanks

Try activating TV then press MENU. Then the setup menu should appear.

This might be a bit obvious but when you talk about connections from the screen to beosystem 2 you don't mention the about the ir sensor without that you won't be able to switch on the system with beo4 remote

Does the tv need activating is it was pre owned?

Many thanks

Hi Kai,

Sorry yes the IR sensor is plugged in.

When I have the Sky box directly connected to the BV 4 I can switch it on and off, however i cannot use any other remote functions ie volume, txt and so on!

Cheers

Ok it is connected but no function at all!! Make sure that the red light is on the sensor, then point the remote at the sensor press a source eg tv, then see if it blinks if it does not it might be in option 0. You need it to be option 1 to this press list and red dot together you should get the remote saying something press till it says option then press 1, you should see the ur blink if it does that should you. If you do not have a red dot on the ir then it might be wired wrong

I know stating the obvious but:

The BV4 System 2 might not have the chip version in it to control the sky box, I know mine doesn't so I cheated and just linked it via an Avant which did have the correct chip in it.

Also you might want to try the sky box with a Sky remote as it may be outputting via HDMI rather than component, I noticed last night there are signal out steeings in the menus in the Sky HDi box.

Finally I guess is the option to see if the setup on the BV4 is set to accept the AV in the right scart socket, i.e., did you set the connections on the BV4?

Sorry if I can think of more things to try I'll let you knwo when I get home! Smile

Translation:

Press the LIST button and the STANDBY button (the red dot at the bottom right hand corner of your remote) at the same time.

The screen on the remote controller should read: 'ADD?'

Press LIST twice until 'OPTION?' appears, then press GO

The screen should now be flashing 'V.OPT'

Point the controller at your IR receiver, then press number 1 (the red light should blink at this stage in acceptance of the command)

Press TV on the controller

If the set has not started up this time, then you must have a connection problem elsewhere.

One other thing to check - is the BeoSystem 2 actually on? It can be hard to tell! There's a red button at the top - push this - you should hear a clicking noise inside as it boots up.

Thank you for this info.

I have followed your instructions and can now switch the tv on and off.

The issue still remains that the back light on the tv comes on but no signal is going to the tv from BS2.

I cant even get the menu screen to appear? its like the BS2 is not sending AV to BV4.

I understand that you cannot get the menu to come up without a source being displayed, is there something i am not doing?

How do you select a source from the outputs on BS2? does it auto select?

Does the BS2 need activating as per top of this thread?

Please help! :)

Also............ If the Cable from the BS2 to BV4 was faulty, it wouldnt send the signal to switch on and off the monitor would it?

I dont think the cable is at fault?

The screen is switched on/off by singals on the serial cable. Video signals are going through RGB.

Just to summarize:

When you press TV on your Beo4 the IR-Eye shows green and the system starts up turning on the BV4?

At this time you shous see the signal from areal (at least snow)

Your RGB is running from BS2 RGB socket to BV4 PC-In socket?

When you then press Menu on the Beo4 the on screen menu should appear, OK?

if not: A simple way to check the RGB signal is, to connect alternatively a PC monitor instead of BV4. Do you see a TV signal and on screen menu?
