Hi Alls,
After many fishing parties across many seas I managed to gather an hybrid Beosystem 5000:- Beocord 5000 and Beogram CD50 both with the usual need of care and now working.- Beogram 5500 that needed the usual string pin replacement repair.- Beomaster 5500 and MCP5500, both working well.
I got alongside two Beomaster 5000, both faulty with respective MCP.
The system was working for month now and even if this is not my preferred design I have to say it suited my needs very well (multiple ins, all remote controllable). Even though I needed to crank up bass and trebles to get a little depth in the sound.
I was nevertheless not pleased by the display differences when on but also when standing by. The red dot is more vivid on the 5500 than in the 5000 components.
Well, today I jumped in and put the two Beomasters on the kitchen table.
5000A do start and you can open the panel, adjust volume and press "select" but as soon you choose a program or a source, "loudness" flicker and the unit go into Stand-by. I made the electrical adjustments: 5V on CPU board and Idle current. But idle current was impossible to set up because always to 0V whatever adjusting on the trimpots.
5000B do start but you can't open the panel. Loudness flickers and the unit go into Stand-by. If you press "Store" it waits for a command but go into stand-by if you press any key. I did check the electrical adjustments. CPU power=OK, Idle Current=OK.
Then I assumed Unit A had some sort of power board fault and the unit B at least a working Power Board.
Swapped them (thanks forum for the pictures).
The unit A did start an is now working well. Sound is better (5000 neutral sounds like 5500 cranked up in bass an trebles).
I will need to repair the A power board and then maybe the whole B unit but right now, if you allow me the beogram 5500, the 5000 system is complete !
