Hi, I am upgrading to 7-55 Beovision TV. My retailer advises upgrading the speakers too. I have 7-40 + 7.2 + 6000's at present. They are good. But we need a bigger TV.

Can anyone with experience advice me on whether upgrading to Beolab 8002 + Beolab 2 or just a Beolab 9 is worth it. Does Beolab 9 require a subwoofer too?.Thanks.

Hi Mahesh and welcome,

I don't have beolab 9 but I have already tried beolab 2 with beolab 3 and I am not convinced at all.

Too boomy for me.

How do you use your beolab 7.2 if you use a beolab 7.4, center speaker, subwoofer?.

I am very impressed by the bass of the beolab 7.2.

The beolab 9 are always considered as a great investment, even compared to a pair of beolab 5.

If you can efford it and you like their look, this would be a great choice.

4 beolab 5,  beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2,  2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...

Hi Mahesh and welcome to BeoWorld.

Your retailer should be happy to arrange a free home trial of the speakers of your choice. It is useful to seek advice from others but at the end of the day it's your money and your system. You have to be satisfied that if you upgrade the speakers you are getting an improved sound. IMO the BeoLab9's will sound way better than what you have now but only you can assess if they are better than Lab8002 & Lab2.

Whatever you decide, I'm sure that you won't be disappointed.

Regards

Opman

Always trust your own ears - you need to listen for yourself. Speakers divide opinions - some people live ALT speakers; others can find them overly bright and tiring to listen too. I have a BL2 I use in a surround system and in this role it is wonderful. If I listen to music, it is horrid at  loder volumes - hence I have another couple of systems I use for music!! For accurate bass, in my experience, you need a big bass driver and no ABR. I use M100s which are great.

However most of us make compromises so have to expect one speaker to fill a number of roles. I would expect the BL9 to be a better compromise than BL8000s and a BL2. If you can live without ultimate bass, the 8000s alone are not bad though.

My exact configuration is a BeoVision 7-55 with BeoLab 7-6, 2 pairs of BeoLab 8000 speakers, and a BeoLab 2 subwoofer. It sounds phenomenal and looks proportional to the height of the television on the floor stand. You will probably get better bass response from this type of configuration than BeoLab 9 speakers without a subwoofer.

BeoLab 5, BeoVision 7-55 MK2, BeoSound 5 Encore, BeoSound 9000, BeoLab Penta III, BeoLab 8000, BeoLab 6000, BeoLab 2, BeoLab 7-6, BeoSound 8, BeoTime (analog clock), Beo 4 remote.
