Before I wall mount my 4500 system I'm going to renew all the double sided tape under the glass panel. I can get the glass panel off, however, understand that there's a couple of screws holding the frame onto the switch panel.
How do I get to these underside of the switch panel to get to these screws and reinstall. Would rather ask first than launch in !
Also, is there a recommended thickness for the double sided tape ? got some 3m stuff, but it's very thin.
Unfortunately I can't access the service manual as there's a problem upgrading my subscription.
Many thanks.
Managed to answer my own question (part 1)
There's a hidden slot underneath which has a cunningly disguised legend "service technician insert in slot and slide glass panel to the side"
Did that and off it all came. Typical B&O - not 30 or so screws, just a simple, easy and efficient mechanism with clear instructions.
Just need advice on the double sided tape and I'm done. Old glue came off very easily by wetting with white spirit and gentle scraping.
Hi Beogramcollector,
I successfully replaced the failing tape of my BeoMaster 4500 panel with 3M VHB (very high bonding) transparent tape. Very sticky stuff. It is some 0.8mm 1.0mm thick (edited) and 6mm wide. I have plenty of it left. I could post you some of it if you can still use it?
Let me know. J.

Would you happen to have the item number of this 3M tape? This was the correct thickness after scraping off the old tape residue?
Hello beojeff,
It must be 3M 4910F, VHB™ Clear Foam Tape, 6mm x 33m, 1mm Thick (I edited my previous post after measuring better).
Some images of it:
I removed all of the goo and used this tape. All controls work well. so I reckon the thickness is OK.
I know it sticks well as I managed to glue the glass panel upside down first .
As you can see here below the glass panel sticks out of the plastic frame slightly.

I just found the 4910 on Amazon and placed my order. I couldn't find 4910F. I hope it's the same thing.
I think that tape with 1mm thickness is too much... As Johan wrote, the glass panels stick out of the plastic frame... A bit too much IMO...
B&O used some much thinner tape -sadly in poor quality I used superglue for mine -then it looks more like when it was new . But offcourse -it is a matter of taste.
With glue, you're leaving the old tape unremoved and gluing the glass onto the old tape in order to keep the correct distance. Correct?
No - I removed the old tape. It is necessary to have a clean surface. The original tape used by B&O was very thin - so the distance (maybe 1/10 of a mm or so) will be roughly the same with glue.
Hi Johan - apologies for the late reply and appreciate the very kind offer. I ended up using slightly thinner 3m tape. The start of the glass taper starts at the edge of the plastic frame. I don’t have any pics I’m afraid, but it looks perfect and I’m confident it won’t fall off. Just need to get all the 4500 components lined up so the reflection is perfect across the amp/tape/CD. Being wall mounted it’s tricky !
