Hi Folks,

I have about 400/500 albums on my Beosound 5. Some downloaded via cd ripping and some via downloads.

i want to retrieve them to either an external hard drive or a usb memory stick.

I have written to B & O to ask how I can retrieve it and furnished them with all the items of my system and the country I live in. They are taking ages to reply to a simple question.

Most of the downloads were put into my system via an app on my iMac. Presumably I should be able to reverse the process.

Does anyone know how I can achieve this.

Thanks

Dennis

Please note that with newer Windows 10 versions you have to enable SMB access on your computer.

I just had this issue with a new pc.

Fix is described here:

Thank you for that link.

I have heard this week from B & O this week and they provide the exact same answer as you have in the link.

I have tried that with my iMac but unfortunately it asks for a password which I obviously have forgotten and no matter what I put in nothing seems to work.

Any ideas as to how I can retrieve the password as the site does not help.

Many thanks

Dennis

Alternative solution:

Grab an USB Hub, mouse, keyboard and an external hard disk drive.

Enter service mode into Windows, locate the music folder and copy everything to your external HDD. Done.

Do NOT mess around with the underlying Windows system. Only copy from the music folder.

Thanks for your reply but I do not have a windows pc, its an iMac.

Not really sure what you mean by a USB hub, I do have an external hard drive which I use to back up my files from the iMac.

However, following the link in a previous post I have changed the password on the Beosound 5 by going into the settings, but when I go to the "Go" section in Finder then go to "connect to server" I input the new password as required but it denies me access.

Therefore still unable to access the memory to retrieve my music.

I also contacted the company that advertises at the top of the page and they have given me a price for my whole system. seriously thinking about it.

Of course you have a Windows PC: Your Beomaster 5 and I was referring to it. ;-)

USB-Hub is an expander to your existing USB ports. For example:
