Hi,

I have a Beosound Ouverture with Beolab 2500 MK2.

I'd like to add a turntable Beogram 5500 or 7000.

What do you recommend?

PS: I'm not familiar about links and so on.

Thanks a lot.

Hello there. You would need 3 items

1. 5 pin female din to rca female

2. Preamp

https://www.amazon.com/rolls-Phono-Preamp-Red-VP29/dp/B0002BG2R2/ref=sr_1_22_sspa?crid=3ISCA1R9ZBHT5&dchild=1&keywords=phono+to+line+level+converter&qid=1628667663&sprefix=phono+to+line%2Caps%2C206&sr=8-22-spons&psc=1&smid=A2LXBKOLL3J3K6&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzNlRUSFlFMlJJNk85JmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNTc2NjAwMlozQlczQUhTWTdEVyZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwOTg1MzM1MlJYNjk5UkpZQkJBNiZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2J0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=

3. Male rca to 5 pin din male

You can get the cables from sounds heavenly.

I would recommend a BG4500, BG6500 or BG7000.  All of these have a pre-amp (RIAA) already fitted, hence you will be able to connect them directly to the Ouverture without further boxes or pre-amps.  If the Beogram's connector still has the 7 pin DIN attached (with all 7 pins present) then you will have full remote control of the Beogram.

Hi Guy,

A Beosound Ouverture could remote control a datalink Beogram? Really? That would be awesome!

Have i understood it well?

Yes that should work fine.  Although I don't have an Ouverture it has the same aux socket datalink connections as my BC2300, and that works perfectly to remote control my connected Beogram 6500.

Hello. While you may be able to play/pause/ect, I don't know if you will have full control of the Beogram as the overture may not have all the codes programmed in.

Hello. While you may be able to play/pause/ect, I don't know if you will have full control of the Beogram as the overture may not have all the codes programmed in.

I get full control of my BG6500 via my BC2300.  I can PLAY, STOP (which is actually pause, as the tonearm just lifts) and turn off the system.  I can also use the UP DOWN arrows to step forwards and backwards through the record, 8mm at a time.  I can also use my BL5000 remote to set up the timer to play a record at a certain time.  I can't think of anything else that you would need for Beogram control.

As far as I am aware (and despite having Masterlink) the Ouverture has the same datalink connections (and hence codes) via the AUX socket, therefore remote control of a Beogram should be identical to my setup.

See also the first few lines of this thread regarding Ouverture control of BG3500: https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/17205.aspx

As mentioned in the linked thread, it was the later Beosound 3000/3200 that lost the datalink connections, and cannot control a Beogram - or anything else for that matter!

I replied last night but it went into suspended animation! (Back now, thanks Keith!)

In my (delayed) post above, I forgot to mention that PHONO codes were of course just re-purposed for N.RADIO in more modern systems, hence should still be passed across the datalink connections and recognised by a Beogram.  If using a Beo4 rather than my BL5000, I select the BG6500 by pressing LIST then N.RADIO.

Thanks, very interesting. What about performance between 5500 and 7000?

I can't really answer this as I only have a BG6500 (which is identical to a BG7000, so don't rule that out!)

I think it may depend mainly on the cartridge fitted (I have an SMMC4 which I am very happy with), and the quality of the pre-amp/RIAA (if you intend to go for the BG5500.

For a straightforward connection and easy remote control I would go for a BG3500, 6500 or 7000.
