Does anyone know if a Beosound 5 encore can be connected to a beosound 9000. If so can you let me know how?

I'm highly interested in the same answer. I looked into it once, and it seemed the only way was to connect the two using an aux in/headphone type connector, which ain't exactly a reliable or good connection, and I had doubts at the time that the system could be setup so that you could operate the two on the same remote in the same room well. Never did get much of an answer except we don't recommend that, buy the Beosound 5 instead.

So, I'm hoping you get a better answer than I did.

Hi,

Our member stefan helped me with a same sort of question. It was very useful for me. With the Beo5 reprogrammed, I can use it "as a kind of masterlinked source" in my setup.

Also member millemissen was very helpful with tips&tricks how to integrate a BS 5e in an existing setup. Thank you both!

See here the answer from stefan: http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/4790.aspx

And some options from another site (text from millemissen): http://www.hifi4all.dk/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=46053&PN=0&TPN=261

More tips to find on both sites, just do a search.

Good luck!

Took alook but have to say, the first site is abot programming the remote, when I need to understand how to do the physical connection which I think is being done cia the aux input. So if im right what this means is to use the bounsound 5 encore with a beosound 9000 we would connect the masterlink to the aux input on the beosound 9000 and then reprogram the remote as per the instructions listed.

Isnt there an option to use the masterlink of the beosound 9000 to the beolink of the beosound 5 encore...?

It`s about connections, setup, option settings and Beo5 programming. So just connect Powerlink out (BS5E) to AUX in (BS9000). You will find wiring information on the Beotech site.

---So if im right what this means is to use the bounsound 5 encore with a beosound 9000 we would connect the masterlink to the aux input on the beosound 9000 and then reprogram the remote as per the instructions listed.---

No. BS5E has no Masterlink. Connect the 8 PIN DIN Powerlink socket to AUX as said before.

---Isnt there an option to use the masterlink of the beosound 9000 to the beolink of the beosound 5 encore...?--

No. There is no Beolink on the BS5E. If you want to use Masterlink the only way is an additional Beolink converter as described on the danish site.

Would be helpful, if you`d tell us a bit more about your setup - which audiomaster, videomaster? Linkrooms?

@Beofan53: Glad to read that your setup works....

So Aux input is used by the Beogram.

Maybe a special audio expander helps. Connect the expander to aux port of your BS9000 and connect BS5E and your Beogram to the expander via adapter.

You can also use a powerlink switch to connect bothe systems (BS9000 with Beogram - BS5E) to your Beolabs.

The Powerlink switch is made by Almando and also distributed by Bosscom.

There is another Powerlink switch made by Oneremote.

In any case BS5E should be programmed to A.OPT 4.

Would be helpful to know which BS9000 you have? What does it display, when you press N.MUSIC and N.RADIO ?

Hi jeff,

noticed gou said you were highly interest in this, well guess what I gainned inpiration from Stefan messages and looked into the products he was talking about, and the prices seemed very expensive. However as I said it gave me inspiration and I thought about the switchbox suggestion, as Im running a beogram 4500 in the aux of the beosound I thought why not try a switch box plugged in to the aux and have both the beosound 5 encore and the beogram plugged into the switchbox. Im current waiting an email from a company to check to see it the switch box they have, has a version with the din plugs b and o use. If it does then I think ill go with that option as its only £36 as against the other options of over 350 euros.

Hi Stephan,

cant find if I have N music or N radio, never used it. Just wanted though to check one thing with you. The option of using a switcher in the aux, I think this for me is the better option. As I use the beogram from time to time I can leave it switched to the Beosound Encore 5 and when wanting to use the beogram switch it over. Thks for your help.

Ps can I ask what is the relevance of asking about the N-music and N-radio?

Depending on how your system is laid out, you could also use the line-in on the Encore and AAUX command to pass the beogram through.

I currently use a switcher as I connect either my PC music server and my Beogram 3000/MMC2 combo (with external phono pre) to the aux on my BS9000, which is quite an old one, 1st gen so no N. Music for me! The only drawback I'd see is if I couldn't get the Encore to ignore the Beo4 commands to the 9000. I'm sure there's probably some setting for that. Hmmm.

Hi Jeff,

Have you ever tried Option 4 for the Encore?

The Encore reacts then only with link-commands (also in the same room as your BS9000).

This solution works for me, but . . . I also use a Beo5 which I have reprogrammed with a macro. Thanks to tips from Beoworldmembers Steffen and Millemissen.

With this macro I can switch on my BS4 in aux-mode, automatic choose n-music or n.radio on the Encore (automatically switched on) and enjoy the music in my rooms.

Have a try, there is nothing to loose!

Update: via line in of my Encore I use a Playmaker and with the line-in from the playmaker I have connected my Beogram (with external pre-amp).

So I can also select music from my couch with my iThings ;-)

Well, I don't have an Encore so can't try Option 4, but that's interesting. Seems there is probably a way to make this work, I guess I'll have to decide if the Encore or my current PC is the best approach.

Yes - correct. A.OPT 4 does the trick. Now you have two N.MUSIC commands (and N.RADIO). First N.MUSIC - BS9000 responds, second LINK N.MUSIC - BS5E responds.

If your BS9000 does not respond to N.MUSIC command you won`need A.OPT 4 for BS5E.

IF your BS9000 responds to N.MUSIC command by activating the AUX port you won`t need A.OPT 4 either, if your BS5E is connected to AUX port.

My BS9000 is MKIII with latest software and N.MUSIC compatible, so I can`t test that.

For your Beo4 you maybe have to add N.MUSIC/N.RADIO buttons to the list. refer to the manual.

Hope this helps.

Stefan
