Hi Beogram experts, posted this in the general forum, so it may have got lost as I didn't have any responses.

My BG4000 sets down far too early. As soon as the sensor reaches the platter, the tonearm lowers - i.e approx 1" before the actual start of the record. It happens irrespective of whether there's a record on, platter only etc etc.

Is this likely to be mechanical or electrical ? Hopefully someone can give me a few pointers on where to start looking.

Many thanks !

Most likely to be an incorrect adjustment of the setdown switch.

Thanks Martin - I take it that's one of the slide contact springs ? Not sure which one it is, but will ensure all are the correct distance accord to the service manual.

Really appreciate the swift response !

Sorted it with a quick email from Rudy. He said to check the singles switch, so I cleaned all the contacts again with some 2500 wet & dry and everything works perfectly !
