Ny Beosound Core will not turn on and off my beokink Passive. They connected with a special Powerlink cable. This were pin 1 og 4 are solved.

The issue is not on the Beolink Passive since on and off is working fine if a replace Beolink Core with a Beolink Essence MK II.

If a disconnect the Powerlink cable the Beolink Passive turn off and when the cable is reconnected it turns on

This might tell me that there is power (5v) on pin 1 or pin 4 (do not recall which it is) all the time even when Beosound Core is put to Stand-by.

What is the issue?

I had the same problem and eventually found out the Core will not turn off the Passive with the part no. 6271225 cable. It works with the Essence but not the Core. The cable has to be modified for the Core to turn the Passive on and off. I’ll try and find the modification diagram that I got from B&O

This is what B&O wrote

'After reviewing the case, we suspect the cause for this behaviour is that the Beosound Essence cuts the 5V on PIN1 when entering standby when the BeoSound Core does not. To fix this, the "old" powerlink plug will need some modification. If you were to cut PIN1 and move the lead on PIN4 to PIN1 instead, this should rectify the issue and restore the system to its previous functionality. You can also find a diagram regarding these modifications attached.'

Hope this helps

Thanks a lot, but B&o Hellerup says that it is not correct and the mentioned cable must work. Indifferent

Dealers have been known to be wrong at times.  It certainly sounds like Peter may have actual experience solving this problem.  If it were me, I'd give Peter's suggestion a try.  You can always put the wire back if you prefer the current behavior.

I also had the same problem with a Core and a pair of BL 5000’s. The Core would turn them on but not power them down. They worked fine when connected to an Essence. It drove me insane that they wouldn’t turn off as they were installed in our bedroom and the display was always on generating an annoying amount of light.

I haven’t tried the B&O fix as I replaced the Passive with a BeoAmp2 after some renovations as it was a better fit for where it was being installed. I would have also had to wait months to get the cable made as we were in a covid lockdown at the time.

I have no reason to doubt B&O’s suggested fix as there was a lot of backwards and forwarding with them including sending them pictures of the installation. Like you, my dealer said that cable part 6271225 would work. Except it didn’t. I have 3 of the cables; all work fine with an Essence but when you connect the Core no go. I tried this on 3 different Passives and 2 different Cores all with the same result.

Perhaps you could contact a service centre and tell them what you’re trying to achieve and have them make the modified cable that they can test before selling it to you?

Thanks. I wonder why B&O do not provide a cable that works.

Hi!

I’m having the same issue with my Beolab 3000 and the Core (and also if connected to the power link socket of the BeoLink converter NL/ML). Has the suggested wiring diagram in the thread solved the issue?
