Hi all,

I was recently given a pair of near mint Penta 1 active loud speakers (6603) I believe. 1 thing I have noticed was that one of the amps runs a little warmer than the other but the yellow light doesn't come on. as far as the lights on the amps, everything seems to be running normally.

I called B&O and they have no idea and just said I would need to bring them in but would cost me 80 bucks just to look at them.

Do any of you who own these speakers experience the same thing ? I dont want to risk these things causing a fire!

One other question I have is although the Mids are working just fine, after removing the covers, there seems to be some cracks in the foam... My question is, is it relatively easy to replace the foam on these speakers or do the mids need to be replaced ?

See Pictures Below

Thanks!

That looks very much like a Beovox Penta (no amplifier) to me. No wonder there's no yellow (or any) light. What/where exactly is it that gets hot?

The amps are there just not in the picture... I have them hooked up outside of the tower...

Ok, just making sure.

They are not likely to start a fire, but they will blow sooner or later. You'll have to have the trim pots in the output stage replaced and adjusted. While in there all electrolytic caps should be replaced too.

Regarding the mid surrounds they will have to be replaced. It's not a particularly difficult thing to do, but the surrounds on the market are not a perfect fit, just so you know.

I suggest you stop using them until you've fixed these things.

Thanks Johan, Much appreciated!

I may very well hook the speakers up without the amps... the foam rot on the mids arent that bad from what I can see but eventually they will need to be replaced.
