Hello all!
It's been a loooong time since I was here last time. What can I say but life is busy and offers unexpected turns sometimes. I just reupgraded myself to gold standard and even got my "f" back
After living in a smaller flat for a couple of years - to my regret not with enough wall space for large wall mounted spakers - we'll soon move in to a big apartment with several options for placing large wall mounted speakers. Double the joy! I currently have a set of CX100's cheering me up and they definitely do more than ok but they're no BL5000's
My question is if it matters for the sound quality what type of wall a set of BL5000's are mounted on. Dry wall vs. brick et cetera. Most walls in the new place are brick but one of the options for speaker placement is on dry wall. I don't want the sound to be all boomy and bounce through to the wrong places so any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Ben

Thanks very much for your reply, DMacri! I'll try to avoid the drywall placement and go for brick, really looking forward to having my babies back up
I actually had a pair of CX100's wall mounted some years ago for a short while but I thought it looked wrong and took them down.
Until very recently I had 3 pairs of Beolab 5000's all mounted on drywall and they sound fantastic!
The only reason for selling 2 pairs is that I'm downsizing my property and wont have room for them in the future.
My walls all have fibreglass insulation in the voids and there was no problem with sound transfer, room to room.
Regards Graham

No booming at all either? And did the wall carry the weight ok?
3 pairs! I think I'd have a hard time getting the go signal for that many
Like Graham I have my (slightly lighter) BV 5000s mounted on dry-lined walls with fibreglass insulation. There is no boom and the sound quality is excellent.
In terms of mounting options, I initially used special plasterboard anchors for the standard BV 5000 mounting frame. When I moved the speakers I simply used some rawl plugs and they do the job admirably and make less of a mess of the wall to boot!

Thanks very much for your input, j0hnbarker and Graham. Much appreciated!
Come May we'll see what wall they end up on. I'll make sure to post a picture
Finally got my system up. The BL5000's are mounted on brick wall and are just so enjoyable to listen to. Great to have them back up!
They're fed from a BM6500 with BG6500 CD and BG4500 record player. WIll try and get some pictures up shortly. Is there a forum thread somewhere for this or would it be OK if I make my own?
