I have sound through my headphone jack but my Beolabs are not powering on. Where should I begin my search for a solution?

You could begin telling us which Beolabs you have and which Powerlink cables you use.

I have 4 Beolab 8000's and purchased new power link cables from a supplier in the UK. I forget the name.
The system was working great one day. We had a brown out, the unit is connected to a UPS with surge protection, and the unit was not in use at the time.
The next day no sound.
Sure hope that the ‘brown out’ was a power failure, and not……. ;-))))
Did you try out the Beolabs one at a time, did you try changing cables?
Seems to be something in the BM7000, that needs to be checked.
Do you have any opportunity to try the speakers on another beomaster/-sound/-vision?

This is 99% not a fault from you speakers.
The 7000/6500/5500 have a relais switching for headphone and speaker Output.
It is a common fail that this Relais is not working properly.
First you can Try is to Plug and unplug your headphones a des times.
is the relay clicking. Maybe the Sound to you speakers is back.
if not, open up your 7000. the relay sits one the left from Front on a small extra Platine put on top of another Platine.
the relay you can see Directly in Front of the speaker Outputs.
open ist up, clean the contacts or better replace that one and everything will work as if should

I could be wrong but I think that the mute relay only switches the speaker 1 (passive) speaker outputs. However, the signal that operates the relay is provided by the circuit that also applies power to Powerlink pin 4.
Hence I would suspect the headphone socket, specifically the mechanical contact that supplies the trigger voltage to both the aforementioned relay and powerlink pin 4.
If you have some passive speakers you could try connecting them to the speaker 2 outputs, which are not affected by the mute relay.
(For the sets with 1/4" headphone sockets, this problem was often caused by people leaving a 3.5mm headphone adaptor in the socket, but as the BM7000 already has a 3.5mm socket I doubt that this is the problem here!)

Can you tell me which one is the relay? I am assuming it is the black one with the 204 sticker.
Yes that is correct, it sits on PCB 7 which is piggybacked onto PCB 3.

I suggest that you check the circuit diagram before playing around with the relay. The relay does not turn the PL outputs on/off. As mentioned before, the contact breaker in the headphone socket could well be the culprit - it is directly connected to PL pin 4.

Not necessarily, but I would check it before looking at the relay.
By the way, do the Beolabs still each show a red standby light?

And have you tried MM's suggestions, swapping around cables etc?

I don't have cables to test the passive ports. And I haven't tried powering off the Beolabs or swapping their locations.

Then it would be worth trying this before anything else. Power down the Beomaster and all speakers, disconnect all speakers, and then reconnect a single speaker with a single PL cable. Cycle through the speakers and cables (4 speakers, 4 cables, hence 16 permutations!) to see if you can eliminate a fault. You could also try the speakers phono socket inputs (switch set to LINE) if you have a suitable source and cable.

I tested as you suggested and found that when one of my four Beolabs is connected then I get no sound at all. I haven't tested that unit with an RCA cable just yet.
Great news - sounds like you have a suspect speaker! And when connected to the system, that speaker may well have prevented the others from activating.
