Hi,

as there are always possibilities that are unknown I want to know if it's possible to have a setup like this:

- Living room with audio and video master, speakers etc.
- link room with e.g. a Beolab 3500 AND an audio system linked to the master in the living room while sharing one speaker.
Is it possible that the local audio system in a link room can use the beolab 3500 as a local speaker when I want to listen to another CD in the link room than in the living room? When I use the link functionality the audio system should play the CD from the master audio system in the living room and the music still comes out of the Beolab 3500.

I hope I explained what I want ;-)

Is it possible?

Thank you

Hi TWG,

As far as I know, the BL3500 has no PL socket and cannot be used as a local speaker. The scenario you are describing will work not even work with the local audio system in the link room having its own speakers connected

BL3500 set to L.Opt 4, will respond only to link commands

Audio System set to a.opt 6: Will respond to local commands AND to link commands.

I has a similar problem and ended with a stand alone audiosystem in the linkroom (a.opt 1) not attached to the ML.

thank you for your reply.

I want to combine the things and want to be able to listen to the local audio system AND be able to have access to the master audio system in another room through the link audio system.
I can't believe that the B&O masterlink network is not capable of doing this!?

The Beolab 3500 has a Masterlink and a Mastercontrollink terminal (looks like a powerlink socket).

There is possible another solution.

For this you need a coverter, type 1611. To this converter you can connect an iPod/iPhone/iPad. Then you have to select pc on your remote.

You still can use use the masterlink solution and play local music. As extra you need a ML junctionbox for using the existing ml and play music from your iThings.

I use this solution in my bedroom with a BL2000. This works for me. I think it would be possible with a BL3500 too.

Even a standalone option with this type converter is possible!

Be creative! Good luck!

The solution you are describing is possible, if you have one audio system in option a.Opt 6 in the link room.

The command CD plays the local CD source. The comand Link-CD plays CD from main room.

If understood you correctly you have BL3500 and the new audio system in the same room. So both will respond to IR commands.

If you can use the MCL plug as input to BL3500 I don't know if this is possible.

Good evening,

the "problem" still persists as I had no time to work such things out at home.

With the described help from you: Is it possible that the Link- and the Mastersystem use the Beolab 3500 in the e.g. bedroom or did nobody at B&O think about such a setup? :-)

And what about the described Converter Type 1611?
How do I have to connect it to the system? When I understood correctly, it would be a solution to connect a local audio system (sorry, I don't like iPod/iPhone) via powerlink->rca-/cinch-adapter and could listen to the Beolab 3500 from 2 systems (local and link)?

I guess I need to invest some time to find a solution and a great documentation of what is possible in the Masterlinknetwork and what's not. :)
