I have a set of BeoLab 4 speakers that I want to connect to a non-B&O amplifier. It is a small amplifier with a mini-jack as audio/line-out.Also I want to use the auto standby functionality, to have the BeoLab 4 switch to standby when music playing ends. I understood, that to use this functionality, the audio input signal should go through the PowerLink input on the BeoLab 4, not the mini-jack input. I read that connecting via the mini-jack input keeps the BeoLab 4 on at all times, which I have also tested. So this is not what I want.
If this is correct, I need a mini-jack to PL/DIN cable to connect (from amp to BeoLab 4).To my understanding I need following pins on the DIN (referring to the picture below, pins seen from the solder-side):
Unfortunately, the speaker does not switch on when connected as described above. So my question: what do I need to change to make it work?
Additional:- My BeoLab 4 is a type 6650.- I believe the PowerLink on the BeoLab 4 is a PowerLink MK III. - I want to make this cable myself, also to understand the connections.

Firstly the Beolab 4 does have an auto-switch-on function, but this operates via the 3.5mm 'line-in' input, but only when the LINE/PC switch is set to LINE. (If the switch is set to PC, the speakers will stay on all the time).
However, if you experiment with the above (as I did) you will find that the speaker switches on/off at inappropriate times, such as in a small pause between music tracks. I found this very annoying in my set up.
The Powerlink input has a different 'switch on' function. This does not 'detect' the music signal, but relies upon a separate 5v signal being applied to PIN 4 to turn the speakers on. You won't get this by taking a signal from pin 3 or 5, but should supply if separately. If you have a look at some of the diagrams in PeterPans's thread below you will see novel ways to apply the 5v to Pin 4 (together with useful confirmation of the correct powerlink pins).

Thnx Guy for your swift response and suggestions.
Connecting via the PowerLink, with 5 volt applied to pin 4 is not possible in this project.Nevertheless I tried the mini-jack connection, and had another look at the input selector switch. I changed it and tested if the BeoLab 4 would switch to standby when the music ends. And it did!
So, solution found, many thanks!
