Hiort:Just updated firmware
That is amazing (at least for all Spotify users) - never thought that this should happen.
Though excellent and stable, I never was enthusiastic about it.
Being a long time Spotify user, I was very disappointed after buying it, that there was no support for Spotify Connect there…..my dealer did not really knew then. None the less I have kept it. Nowadays it mainly serves as a hub/gateway for a Beogram 2402 in the setup - muted and hidden away.
Seems that this little ‘now-gem’ could become more used (or that I will have to buy a second one
This said….I see in the (Bang & Olufsen) app, that the connect support is present and that you can ask to open the Spotify app from within the app.
But last time my M3 was updated was in august/the 28 (to 1.11.45906) and - what is worse - it does not appear as a device to choose from the Spotify app - only via Cast and AirPlay.
How does it look in your app/setup?
P.S. I wonder when Spotify will start the long rumoured lossless streaming.

Thanks for the heads-up, however Spotify is not seeing my M3 as a Spotify connect speaker, only chromecast. The Spotify connect option is there in the device settings though. Is it working for you?

Thanks for all the screenshots!
I sure jnow what to look for - however, there are no three dots after my M3.
I did a reboot of the M3 and I also killed the app in order to restart it.
Will have to investigate more tomorrow.

Mine is exactly the same as yours MM.
No mention of Spotify in the web config for the speaker, I was expecting it to be in the local sources list but it’s not there.
I was too!
But in the app it shows as there
Could you please have a look at when exactly your M3 was updated - and to which version?

That may explain why my M3 does not (yet) show up as a connect device.
I still have the previous version 1.11.45906.61640457 running.
Why it has not updatet I don’t know?
But then there is still hope……and after all I have waited years for this to happens and did not expect it to happen at all.
This might be helpfull to others in the same situation.
I’ll report back, when it has happened.
By the way….where did you find the option of doing a manual update?
Mine is set to automatic - I don’t see any other option than ‘yes or no’ there.

It is set to update automatic. My other M3 did it automatically. For the one in the bathroom I just noted a notification in the app (a red dot) that there was an update available and triggered that from the app.
Thanks again.
I guess I’ll have to be patient then.
In the BeoSound 1 mentioned above, a manual software update check is available in the product's webserver pages. Might this also be present in the M3?
Rather than Product Settings / Software, tap Product Settings / Configure and the third item in the old webserver list is "UPDATE PRODUCT SOFTWARE". It checks online right away (and also offers the service/local file option). BUT right now, mine says, "The product software is up to date." (BS1, gen.2, non-GVA, version 1.11.45905.etc.etc.etc.) Nothing to see here, move along, you AES2 users...
[Edit: A delay in displaying Product Settings/Software tells me that the iOS app *is* checking for available updates in real-time, too. Presumably it's the same operation as the product's webserver pages. For out-of-date software, it will display "Update is available (version#). Perhaps as you say, you do need to be patient -- but not because of some auto-update artificially induced delay. The check is real-time, and occurs each time the menu is entered.]
I did exactly that a couple of times since yesterday.
It says, that the sw is uptodate (with the old, mentioned sw)
And then it offers me to update from a local file (which we normally should not do on our own).
And to toggle automatic update on/off.
Nothing more!
So obviously different than on the BS1.
No, that's the same as the BS1: there is no new software update available for it (to me in NA, at least), either. Sorry I misunderstood what you were saying. (I see the update info every-time on a BS1 at 1.7.xxxx, left out-of-date because of DLNA playback bugs in 1.10.xxxx -- but that one also says 1.11.45905 is the latest for BS1.)

Fellow M3 owners, I wonder if you could help me out my checking to see if your “listening mode” setting also gets reset back to optimal after a power cycle? The app shows as the saved preset active after a reboot/power cycle but it is definitely on optimal. I’ve created a thread here with the problem:

Much appreciated.

My M5 got a new update today. Not sure it relates to Spotify Connect though.
Hiort:My M5 got a new update today. Not sure it relates to Spotify Connect.
Any news on this? Did you get an update? I really hope my BS1 non-GVA gen.2 and BS Stage will get the updates so I can use Spotify Connect, but it still keeps saying I am up to date.BTW. I can use Spotify Connect via Google Cast but it doesnt work very well, I would say it doesnt connect like 1 in 3 times (both BS1 and Stage). Do you have the same problem?
Did they also add Spotify Connect to Stage and Balance ?
I have Google Cast problems with all of my devices, even those built by Google.
I would welcome Spotify Connect to my M3 and BS1 (gva)
Stan: I would welcome Spotify Connect to my M3 and BS1 (gva)
Both my M3s and my BS1 GVA have received an update:
M3 version: 1.12.47109.120390320 received: 11.10.2021
BS1 GVA: 1.10.47110.120390320 received: 11.10.2021

No update to my M3 yet
steve1977:When using spotify connect, does the “touch to join” feature work?
Depends on your setup, but generally speaking, yes - recieving devices needs to support the technology.
Googling the phrase ‘ multiroom handout.pdf’ will lead you to a document, that explains more.
Would be nice if this document could be updated by B&O to mirror the options of the current devices and the recent Spotify Connect update.
Yes it does (for B&O products that has the Spotify Connect functionality).

Hello
Yes Spotify Connect is available on Stage since last software update (yesterday for me in France).

My M3 updated yesterday and spotify connect is now available . Spotify isn't showing in the list of local sources though which is weird.

Spotify is not a local/internal source - never was….this has not changed.
You will have to choose your music in the Spotify app (and the dvice you want to stream to.
From there you can go back and manage the stream in the B&O app (or via the remote/join).
What has changed is that a lot more B&O devices now suport Spotify Connect….and therefore can be used in a B&O multiroom experience, when playing from Spotify.

Hi MM,
Spotify is there as a Local source on my Core ( and I believe the essence mk2 but haven’t checked), it seems to be aware of my Spotify username and shows it as logged in. With this it can start Spotify playback independently of my phone. It’s under settings>your Content:
Maybe this additional feature will be added in due course to the M3 and others.
Edit: the original screenshot upload didn't work, hopefully it will show now:

Dyssegaard: Before the recent update, I could start Spotify without my iPhone either by double tapping the top of the M5 or by selecting it on the BR1BT. I could also save Spotify on a MyBotton on the BR1BT and start Spotify from standby on the M5 with it. However, this works no longer, and I have to use the iPhone Spotify app every time to start Spotify .

Just checked my M5 and like yours and the Core it has Spotify in the local sources list.... it has the new software update pending , is it this week's update that upset your M5?

Hi ebnrok.
I was not sure what you meant - that is why I added ‘internal source’.
However, what you mean is something different.
No I don’t see Spotify listed there as e.g. on my Essence.
(Why that is so, will have to be explained by someone in knowing)
But it appears in my own content list and can be added and moved up/down there.
A bit funny that it on other devices appears like the other built-in sources (TunIn etc), since it isn’t really a built-in source (it is just good integrated).
It seems that your usecase is different than mine - I don’t have any devices ‘to tap’ - apart from now the M3 (and that works different there).
And up till now I just used the M3 muted as a ‘gateway’ for my turntable into the NL network….it is hidden away.
I use my beoremote and the app - so I can’t say much to that.
It see though, that other users have chimed in - so I guess that will be clearer along the way.
P.S. I don’t see your picture here on my iPad.
