Hello everyone, I am using a Beosound Core as the resource to connect to my Beolab 18 speakers.
My question is, is there any different between I am using Cat5 or Cat6 or Cat7 RJ45 cable to connect Beolab 18 speakers? Would it affects sound quality if I using Cat5 or Cat6 RJ45 cable?
Thank you.
Jacques
chartz:No.

Present: BL90, Core, BL6000, CD7000, Beogram 7000, Essence Remote.
Past: BL1, BL2, BL8000, BS9000, BL5, BC2, BS5, BV5, BV4-50, Beosystem 3, BL3, DVD1, Beoremote 4, Moment.
Never buy anything audiophile would be my advice. Computer grade will indeed be just fine.
trackbeo: chartz:No.Agreed mostly, except: shielding matters to B&O, especially on the long runs of custom installation cable typical for B&O residences. Cat7 is shielded as standard, Cat5/Cat6 can be optioned that way, UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair) is standard for most networking applications vs. STP (Shielded Twisted Pair) is available and requires special connectors too. [Edit: Bear in mind that despite the RJ45 connectors, B&O Power Link is *analog* line-level audio, not digital transmission.] See: https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/26569.aspx
I fully agree - go for cables that are called S/FTP for shielded foiled twisted pair - or just ask Steve at Sounds Heavenly!
thanks for your explanation.
Isn't it nice that I can find just the answers I need on Beoworld while waiting for B&O customer service for their recommendations? Thanks very much guys! :)
