Hi, I have a Beogram 4000, serial number 114564. I have always had problems with the tonearm movement and the belt has now been adjusted to the limit to make it work. I guess I need to replace it. The part number according to B&O should be 2732016 for the early round section belt as they describe it. However, the belt that appears to have been fitted is a triangular section belt which may be part number 2732032.  It is possible I suppose that the belt may have been changed before with the updated pulleys, but it's hard to tell.

Looking on ebay all sellers list a square section belt and say it is part number 2732032, but B&O say that number should be a triangular section belt.

Can anyone advise if either the 'proper' round section belt or the later triangular belt is available - and where? I don't know which to go for. Is it possible to tell by looking at the pulleys (in case someone has replaced them in the past) which is the correct belt for them?

Yes, you can buy guaranteed proper belts from Martin's Beoparts store.  If you have any questions about it ask Martin (Dillen).

If you post a couple of pictures of the servo motor your Beogram 4000 has and of the pulley on the drive spindle more eyes can look at it and help.
Sometimes those plastic pulleys on the spindle develop hairline cracks so check that carefully.

Martin/Dillen has told me all belts are triangular section and the B&O service manual is wrong to say the early ones were round. The difference is the length of the belt and impossible to say which one it is until I try to fit the new one.

At least that explains why my belt is triangular, but as my serial number falls in the early range it may be that Martin's belt may not fit as he only has the later ones. I have ordered one from him anyway and keeping my fingers crossed.

I suspect there may be a problem with the pulley on the spindle as I can't get it to sit straight - it wobbles a bit when turning. I don't think Martin can supply them as I didn't see them on his website.

You can install an aluminum pulley instead.

That may be exactly what I need, thank you. Let's see how it behaves with the new belt and go from there.

Sometimes the refresh indicator doesn't show that the post is uploading.
Always just press the "Post" button once and then just let it do its thing.
