Dear Beoworld users

I have a Beosound 9000 master system in a multi-room environment. I would like to attach the newly purchased Playmaker to the AUX port of the BS 9000 so I can be able to listen to streamed digital content in all the rooms of the house. To that aim, I have obtained a cable linking the RJ45 speaker-out to the DIN AUX-in. I have the following issues:

a) unfortunately, I do not hear anything when switching to A.AUX. Might be a cable issue, I will investigate

b) I would expect that I could switch to A.AUX from any room in the house. That is  currently not the case. I can only switch to A.AUX in the main room where the BS 9000 stands

c) I read that I should put the Playmaker to fixed output - how do I do that?

d) I read that I have to set option 0 on the Playmaker - I know how to do that, but every time I do it, I disable the remote fpr the BS 9000 as well, as the devices stand close together. Any ideas?

Kind regards

Stefan

I believe the A.AUX behavior is "as designed", but I believe it can be worked around by pressing A.TAPE instead. Unfortunately, I don't have a playmaker so I can't help you aside from suggesting moving it temporarily to another room to do the option programming. Stan

Hi Stefan,

To aswer your question "b" more details how your multi room setup looks like are needed.

if you have more than one device in a room and you want to set the option of one device you should disconnect the others from the mains.

A.Setup - GO - List untill S.Store - 0 - GO
The green led tuns on for a sec as a confirmation.
But do this before you put it in Option 0 Stick out tongue

B&O stood out as outstanding sound and vision. I have observed companies like Subaru - who had rigorous engineering backgrounds and a no compromise attitude to going roaring down a pine forest track at 150kmh sideways, as a similar company in a way.

Now, similarly, subaru is producing bloated "me too" / soccer mom wagons that look like they have all come from the same factory as do cheap chinese cars. very sad....

The wealthy *always* have money, so the market is always there.

B&O have been given a scare - many tv manufacturers use the new digital platform of sound and image as a great leveler, where as in the analogue days it wasn't quite the case. There are many car makers, but the quality ones still stand out.

B&O need to be outstanding. Maybe produce a few things for the i-crowd ( as a potential hook for later on ), but it needs to re-focus and make itself a no compromise quality company again.

I dont think completely open is the way to go - as apple demonstrated, maintaining control of all aspects of quality - OS & hardware, made it a solid platform. Ironically, I know many Windows based IT people who need bullet proof laptops, so they buy mac laptops.

Nuff said.

Hello hfat

I really do feel ashamed of not having thought of that myself. Simply switch the BS 9000 off, do the Playmaker programming, switch it back again.

Here is what I suspect to happen: When I hit the A.AUX-Button, the BS 9000 switches to the auxiliary source, but so does the Playmaker. The only thought I can hold against that is Airplay input is always prioritized over Aux input...

I shall give it a try tonight...!

but I believe it can be worked around by pressing A.TAPE instead.

Thank you Stan, I will try that. If it works, it should work indepently of the source attached to the BS 9000.

Did you solve question A, and do you hear music when streaming to playmaker and having bs9000 on a.aux?

I have exactly the same setup, and this should work. When you hear nothing I suspect you have the wrong cable.

Playmaker does not respond to a.aux, it just has the preference of Line In against streaming. Playmaker does not respond to remote at all when you have option 0 enabled on it.

Did you fix the outputlevel of playmaker as explained? If not, maybe the output level is zero?

Guys, triple success thanks to your help:

- fixed output: set

- option 0: set

- listening to A.AUX from Link Rooms: use A.TAPE

Thank you Stan, Millemissen and hfat

Kind regards Stefan!
