Hello,

was wondering if there is anyone that may be able to help me. I have a pair of beolab 18's and a beolab 19 connected to my beovision 11 with WISA.

The 18's are working as expected but the beolab 19 has no bass. When I go through the menu of the beovision it shows that beolab 19 is connected and I can hear the static sound coming from the beolab 19 as well, however when playing youtube music videos or any other video there is no sound at all.

The settings of the 19 are set as follows

Gain max

LP Filter off

Phase 180

pos w

wireless

L+R

Any help is appreciated.

Did you assign a speaker role to the BL19 ? It should be set to subwoofer

BV Harmony 65 / Eclipse 55 / BL 50 / 19 / 18 / BS 2 all brass

BV Horizon 48 / V1 40 / BL 17 / Beoplay S3 all black

V1 / BL 3 / BS Essence MKII / Beoplay A3 all white

BS Moment / BS 3000 / BS 3200 / BL 400 all silver

Headphones / bluetooth speakers / BLC NL-ML / BLGateway

I know…B&O virus has grown on me !

Did you resolve the issue yet?

How is your setup for speakers in the BV11?

My guess is that you might have overseen something.

When playing a source like YT, you are also listening to the speaker group that includes the BL19?

If all has been properly setup and still no bass, try a PL connection to check if BL19 kicks in, if not then something is wrong with the BL19.

Hope this helps

Thank you so much for you assistance Fantastic,

Beolab 19 is given the role as sub rear on the beovision and when I highlight it I do hear it make a sonar like type of sound. Or when I go the speaker connections menu and select it there it makes a static sound. setup is 7.1 surround.

However when playing music or regular tv nothing from it.

I have beolab 5's as front left and right connected to the beovision and beolab 3's as left and right  wide as well, and beolab 18's rear left and right.... over kill but regardless don't understand why bass is not working on beolab 19.

I am suspecting something is wrong with beolab 19....is there anyway I can check the firmware on it ? I did see some posts about updating the firmware via transmitter 1 but i don't have one.

Thanks again.

Oh also I did try PL connection and result was the same.

Hi,

Your BL19 is not playing due to the bass management which is programmed to use your BL5’s instead. The programming is done so that the most bass capable BL gets the bass directed to.

Also I think that when you select BL19 as subwoofer rear it only handles the bass if the dolby signal gives a rear bass (which I think is very very limited).

To check if your BL 19 works, create an speaker group with your BL18 as L/R and BL19 as subwoofer. With this speaker group play music and see if the cone of the BL19 vibrates (or just listen for bass to be produced). My guess is they will play!

In general, for BL5/50/90 any sub will not play due to the bass capacity of these Beolabs. Maybe only the BL2 will play. In the technical sound guide for ie the BL20 there is a matrix in which you can see the bass capacity between all Beolabs.

Hope this solves the issue

Hi Omid,

Your “problem” is that your Beolab 5 speakers are far more capable of reproducing bass than your Beolab 19. Each BL5 has a 15-inch subwoofer driven by a 1 kW amp, far beyond the design of the BL19.

The BV11 knows what speakers are attached, and it manages that bass so that the most capable speaker(s) receive the majority of the bass frequencies.

If you look at the matrix on page 24 of this Technical Sound Guide you will see that bass will be removed from a BL19 and routed to BL5s:

https://bangolufsenassistentgohe.blob.core.windows.net/manuals/TELEVISIONS/BEOVISION_HORIZON/Technical-Sound-Guide-1409.pdf

If you really want to, you can change the sound settings in the BV to force the BL19 to produce sound, but you will not get what B&O consider to be optimal sound. I had a similar experience with my BL2: once I bought the BL5s I had to re-purpose it, as it never produced any sound.

Of course, if you create a new Speaker Group consisting of (for example) your BL3s and the BL19, you will hear the sub sing. But would you really want to do that when you have BL5s sitting there? Only you can say.

EDIT: apologies, Fansastic - I did not see your post, so thought I’d chip in.

So what I will be doing is to remove the beolab 18's and 19 from the beovision and use them on my music system only.

One question I have is if I have beousound 5 encore connected to the beolab 18's how do I connect the beolab 19? does it just get connected to one of the beolab 18s?

Hi Omid,

Perhaps you’ve already found a solution, but here is my suggestion.

Physically connect the BS5E to the BL19 and BL18s using the appropriate Powerlink cables and splitters. Then follow the guidance on page 6 of the Beolab 19 user guide for the appropriate BL19 settings: https://bangolufsenassistentgohe.blob.core.windows.net/manuals/SPEAKERS/BEOLAB_19/3511230_1310_BeoLab19_web.pdf

Page 6 shows a BS5/BM5 combo, but the principle is the same for a BS5E.
