I'm trying to get a Beocenter 2300 ready for some new doors. It came with no doors and worked fine for years, but I think it would like some doors.
I've flipped the two black side panels off and can see all the string routing AND I have the service manual that explains how the strings should run, however I'm having trouble understanding how both strings wind onto the oval pulley.
Has anyone produced a video of this or some step by step photos? I've searched and not found anything relevant.
thanks in anticipation!
Hi Dave,
Hopefully you can work it out from looking at this video (it should start with a view of the pulley): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFrZ_LqCGOo&t=90s
It's a bit fiddly - good luck!
Guy,
Thanks. I'd found that and it confirmed the page in the manual, but when I try to get the top string in, with the big gear fully clockwise, I don't have enough string, even with a little extension on the spring.
The other thing that's not clear is how the two strings go on the grooves with respect to one another so they unwind and rewind correctly.
I'll have another look. I've been through the similar struggle with the 5500 CD player drawer string and got through that, so there is hope!
I figured it out!
1:push the door holders together as if the doors are closed and keep them there with tape or an extra hand.
2:wind the geared cog clockwise
3.put the top string in the groove two from the top. It will go round about 1/2 a turn before the ball end goes into its retaining slot with the door holders closed.
4.put the bottom string in the groove one from the top and wind it around about 1 1/2 turns before the ball end goes in the retaining slot.
Nothing wrong with the diagram or words in the manual. Starting with the door holders in the closed position seemed to be the key.
Good news. Thanks for letting us know that it worked in the end!
