Hi chaps, I've had a look at some of the Beolab threads as I have a fault with one of my 4000s.  They were new in 2007 (model with LED as a light rather than a button/switch) & are linked to a pair of Beolab 8000s, which is all set up ok.

A while ago my wife heard a low pitched pop from one on start up, result that there's no LED illuminated, no signal or sound.  I've checked the mains lead & Beolink cable & they're ok.  Not sure if the problem is due to the dreaded foam issue or maybe an internal fuse that's blown.  Any advice or thoughts from anyone who's had a similar experience gratefully received.  Thanks.

I’ve checked the service manuals on Beoworld and they have one for the 4000 mk2.

If they are from 2007 they should not have the foam issue.

It might be the amplifier or amplifier board that needs to be changed. I had a problem with mine with a static or crackling noise (not completely silent as yours though). Understood from the repair shop that it was not an uncommon problem.  See this thread also https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/40704.aspx
