Hi Beoworlders,

I have a question regarding Multiroom. I have a setup like this;

Kitchen: Beosound Essence MKII / Beolab 3

Living Room: Beosound Moment / Beolab 18

TV Room: Beovision Contour

Bathroom: Beosound Core / Celestial

When I try multiroom, it never works. Its out of sync, stops and starts playing here and there. Just a really bad experience, so I never use it. All products are up to date with the latest software, and in the product status in the app - all products are green on the wifi indicator (-66dbm is the weakest signal)

But I would like to make it stable and working! Is the solution to buy wifi extenders? Do you have some to suggest that works well with B & O?

Best Regards

Robert

What are your sync settings? On wifi it is recommended to set the latency settings on 1000 milliseconds (go to the ip-addresses of your speakers to find the config menu from your desktop/laptop).

I always found the same WiFi on all of my B&O kit too.

The only way I managed to get round it, and now it's faultless and pretty much instant, is by using TPLink PowerLine adaptors and using ethernet. I never even managed to get the WiFi extender options to work without drop outs/sync all over the place.

I have WiFi latency set to 100ms.

Since I changed to Unifi Dreammachine WiFi router I have no problems with multifroom and I have all my devices on WiFi.

Wow, after the latest update of the app 3.19, the multiroom is more stable than ever..!

Anyone else with the same experience?

App and multiroom are unrelated.

Latest products software update may have had a positive impact on your setup, but the app update had none for sure.

Hello Robert,

always go for cable connection, try to keep your network as "clean" as possible (ie appliances that you don't need to be connected to your network unplug them from it), when deciding to buy a network component (ie a switch) always go for the best your budget can buy (you will not regret it), finally avoid using the Moment as the source you send to the other appliances; especially if you listen to high quality music files.

In case you feel comfortable with networks, try to create 2 networks. One for your B&O stuff and the other for the rest of the appliances. Then combine them into one so subnetworks can "talk"to each other. If you are not feeling comfortable with it try to avoid using too many network switches.

I always get sound drops sooner or later during my listening session, when I join the Moment via a V1 or Beosystem 4 which is not the case when I join the Moment from any other audio renderer (M5, essence MKii).

My Moment is LAN connected. I never experienced dropout when the Moment is the main source.

It has the same quality in streaming to the other devices.

I strongly believe (without me being an expert) that the issue is between the momnet and legacy products in large set ups where you might want to share the music from the moment between the momnet a beosystem 4 and a V1 let's say. Drop outs do not happen at all between the moment and newer products such as essence mkii or m5. All my products are ethernet connected and at the same switch which then is connected to my parent router (I use the velop system of linksys). There is no issue when the moment "follows" an other product. For example when I play a source on my V1 and I ask the moment to join I have never experienced any issues.

I get drop outs even when the moment share its source with just one legacy product. Sharing the moment as a source between two legacy products is almost impossible. The cabling of my house is cat6 I use a linksys 24 port switch and a velop system consisted from two nodes. As I mentioned before all my renderers are ethernet connected (my speakers as well, I am a big fan of cable connnections :-) ) Finally I have to mentione that my setup consists of 8 renderers in eight different rooms/terraces.

If you believe there is a solution to my problem I would be delighted if you share it with me. I have tried many different things like different cables/plugs/sound sync, even integrating a beosound essence mkii with a beosystem 4 so the essence would join but the sound would be played from the beosystem 4 speakers....no luck....yet!!!! :-)

The described system seems solid. Two points of interest: 1. how are the "sound synchronisation delays" set in your devices? 2. Try the same music track files, one in 96kHz the other in 192kHz. Do you experience any differences?

The highest the quality the easiest the drop out. As far as the sync delays is concerned I tried setting them in the moment menu and in the beosystem 4 menu but still I get drop outs and worst of all is that the area where the moment is an open space with the beosystem 4 area and the delay is irritating!
