So I finally went out and got myself a Beogram 1203 after a good few years of waiting and it arrived from eBay with a number of issues... (as to be expected in transit I guess)
I've had it apart and re-attached the belt, re-connected the arm to the turntable cog and somehow to my surprise got it working again which has been fantastic.
More recently the needle arm has stopped working and is repeating the same 10 seconds (is) on a loop.
Ive tried a few different records but its definitely an issue with the arm. It has also stopped going back to the stay position and hovers around the middle of the record when turning off.
Any help very much appreciated, I'm clueless but very keen to learn!

Hi Stephen
The behavior of the needle/tonearm could be caused by different issues.
I would try thes first steps:
If there is a pickup / needle protector put it on the system.
Check the tracking force of the arm / needle.
Turn the scale at the pivot to zero and balance the tonearm with the counterweight.
If the tonearm is balanced tic very carefully the tonearm on it's right an check that it moving without any blocking or inhibition.
After that remove the protector and realign the balance.
Adjust the tracking force at scale e.g. 1,2 to 1.5 to give the right tracking force.
Always watch out for your needle!!! Be carefull!!! No uncontrolled moving from tonearm, hands and arms.
Put a record on and check if it's working.
Is the issue still present it might be something in the mechanics missaligned or damaged as you wrote that the return function is not working proper.
But... first keep it simple and check the possibilities which could be done without taking everyhing apart.
Kind regards
Christian
