Yes, I am able to play music stored on my BS5 on my V1 wirelessly. If you mean connected by a cable, I do not know.

Yes (and no) - depending on what you want to achieve.

Yes - if you use the converter, that was made for this purpose - lots of threads and mentioning of the NL/ML Converter on the forum.

No - if you want a simple direct connection for two way connection of these devices.

However…..

If you want to listen to the sources of the V1 through the BS5, you can configure one of the Powerlink outputs of the V1 as fixed output and connect this to a audio dongle that is connected to the USB port of the Beomaster 5.

If you want to listen to the sources of the BS5 through the V1, you can connect a Powerlink output of the Beomaster 5 (no other speakers connected there) to the A/V input port of the V1..you will have to use an adapter cable for this.

Both of these last mentioned methods will not be hastlefree!

Short version = no easy method without the use of the NL/ML Converter.

Colin, if you have your BeoMaster 5 (not the BeoSound 5 itself, although that is where you will make the settings) configured as a music server, you may well be able to play the music stored there if both V1 and BM5 are connected to the same network. You would choose the HOMEMEDIA source on the V1. You may need to set up the BM5 as a DLNA server in the B&O app.

I suspect that this is what Razlaw was referring to, but I’m sure he can clarify and add details of how this is achieved.

No converter is needed.

Correct. Use Homemedia and DLNA server in the app, as shown in the second picture. In settings it is under Music.

Nice solution. But this does not mean the BS5 and the V1 play simultaneous!

Exactly….that only shows how to play the music, that may be stored on the BM5 (when the DLNA server function is activated there).

I doubt that was (all) that the op was asking for!

@Razlaw

Which solution would you propose, if ‘no converter is needed’?

What other function would be desired other than playing the music of the BS5 through the V1?

The original post makes no mention of speakers or other equipment connected to the BS5. So assuming the setup consists solely of a BS5 and V1, what other functionality could there be?

Of course the converter is another option for more complex use situations. I also have a converter and use it that way too.

Correct. But there was no mention of speakers or anything else being connected to the BS5.

Ok - that is correct….but hardly likely to be the case.

Let’s wait for more details from the op.

A converter is the way to go for more complex use situations. I have a converter too and works great for it.

But it is not more than having a NAS or PC (as is the Beomaster 5) running a server in ones network.

@Razlaw.

The question is to connect the V1 to the BS5. Then it would be peculiar to have no speakers attached to the BS5.

My logic would be then: ask the opposite. But still! the question is about a BS5.  Then what would be the use of the BS5 unit if it has no speaker attached?

And if it isalready attached to a TV, even then I would expect another line of question! But maybe the poster can make this clear.

Hi Everyone

I would just like to say thank you again, this is the only forum and or site that really cares for the B&O punters, B&O itself ! a complete waste of time and money,

Many thanks
