Hiort: Csaba: And from what I understand, if I want to add more speakers to a playback, I can either use AirPlay in the same iOS menu for source in the Music app and tick off for any other speakers, but then I have a serious delay, and AirPlay is not what I want anyway, or I go to the B&O app once I have started streaming to the first speaker via AirPlay, and chain the second, third etc. speaker to this using "multiroom", which in this case I suppose is BeoLink Multiroom. Correct Csaba: Although this bit is a little confusing when I start with AirPlay, then I use what I think is BeoLink Multiroom in the B&O app, but I also get a warning about having to enable AirPlay Multiroom. Which I can do for the Beosound 1, following the "backend" configuration pages, but I do not have anything similar for the Balance (ref. screenshot in a previous post of mine), even if the app insists I should go to something like Product settings > Configure > Settings > and activate AirPlay multiroom (for the Balance). I think that is an error that I will report. That setting is not available in my Emerge either.

That would be brilliant, thank you so much for that! I'll also try to give reporting another go, see if I would get the reporting menu option back, just as magically as I lost it :).
Terrific insight, guys! A lot to take in and consider here as a newbie with multiroom here :). Many helpful thoughts!
At the end of the day I managed to use my Balance in a multiroom setup both using line-in as a source, and in a setup where the source of my Balance was practically my Beosound 1 - another way of putting it.
You are right that it is cumbersome. For me it is already half a victory to be where I am now with the Balance :). It would be nice to ditch AirPlay though.
Another question is if or how I could make only two Balances work together (no record player or BS1 involved in that scenario) using BeoLink multiroom while trying to play my own music files, but it sounds like I might have to try something like DLNA.
I should double-check where exactly I have seen DLNA, but maybe that's the screen I landed on when I tried "musikk" from the menu below. Although I might remember wrong.
In any case, my 2nd Balance won't be here for a couple more weeks I think.

From what I have read, Balance can be used in a stereo pair if this is what you want to achieve, i.e. both in the same room playing real stereo, one being the music receiver playing let's say the right channel and the second receiving the left channel from the 1st balance, both in perfect sync (I think this is the way it works). Source could be internal to the Balance (Deezer, Radio and to some extent Line-In, DLNA) or external via Airplay, Spotify Connect, Chromecast or BT (internal v.s external terminology is always debatable).
In your case, you'll still have to Airplay the music to one of the Balance.
If your 2nd Balance is to be located in another room, then you'll have to rely on B&O Beolink multiroom to sync any of the above source from one Balance to the other, in perfect sync., including your Music .... via Airplay
If you want to get rid of Airplay (please explain why), then you'll have to go for another setup where your music would have to be stored on a networked computer or a NAS (Network Attached Storage) that can act as a DLNA server to stream your stored music to your Balance. The B&O App, or another, would then be used a a controller to drive your music (choose music, choose DLNA receiver e.g. a Balance, start, stop, next, previous, volume). When you have a DLNA server live on your network, it can be configured through the Musikk menu as you guessed it.

vlohjr1:It will be great if balance can be wisa someday
It's my understanding that Wisa needs dedicated hardware.. It's not just a software update. Don't think that the Wisa hardware is already onboard so it can be switched on by some kind of software update.

I would not rule out using them in stereo, it is definitely a great option to have and I am going to try it out as soon as I have received my 2nd one from my dealer. Pairing two Balances in a stereo setup is also possible via the app, I have seen a demo of it as well as the menu option itself.
My original intention was first and foremost to use the two Balances in a multiroom setup due to an open space we have for the living room and dining room. Even the one Balance I have makes a lot of acoustic presence but two together wiould be a more complete experience.
I also believe it is inevitable to use AirPlay. As I mentioned earlier, if I start streaming via AirPlay to the Balance, then I cannot continue with setting up multiroom using Beolink in the B&O app, because when clicking the BeoLink menu at the bottom I get a warning where I am asked to enable AirPlay Multiroom via a certain navigation path. Something that does not exist for the Balance. I have checked elsewhere too and I cannot find anything.
I am not sure if this is coming in the final release or a later version, or if it is an error like Hiort mentioned it regarding the Emerge. But if such a thing as AirPlay Multiroom is a requirement for BeoLink to work between two Balances, and there is no actual option to enable it for the Balance, then I do not think it is possible to exclusively use two Balances and set them up in multiroom via the B&O app.
I know where to find it for the Beosound 1, and if I initiate AirPlay on the Beosound 1 first, then extend via the B&O app to the Balance, then it works perfectly, and I do not get that warning when clicking the multiroom menu option in the B&O app. I am only thinking of a future scenario here where I might not want to use Beosound 1 as a "gateway". Nevertheless, if I have to use Beosound 1, well... it's a great little speaker that I still love! :)
So I do not desperately need to get rid of AirPlay, it is only my wishful thinking that I could use the Music app as a source for the native BeoLink. But this might be a wild ask and probably something that is completely up to the mercy of Apple. In which case there is nothing to do about it.
But all in all it sounds like I might have my own issues due to the way I discover and consume music when it comes to digital playback. I am so excited though about the fact that I can now use my record player, Balance and Beosound 1 in harmony, using Beolink :).
I think it would be worth looking into DLNA as an alternative although I am not sure why you would not recommend it :). As I understand it is more of a standard or certificate, so is there any particular app or service you would still recommend? Then I could see if this is something for me.

I'm sure B&O will correct that and provide this functionality to the new products that recently joined the Beolink world, this would be consistent with their Beolink multiroom ecosystem .... unless Apple prevents them to do so.

Are you thinking about the Apple Music being able to leverage Beolink protocol to stream music to B&O speakers? If this is the case, then I think you'll never see it happen. B&O almost dropped Beolink from their agenda, they are painfully adding it back to their new products .... making Beolink protocol a worldwide standard that can be deployed on Apple AND Android platforms to start with is like swimming in Mars IMHO.
DLNA is a good thing, I have a couple of DLNA servers for my 53k tracks music collection. The main benefit of using a DLNA server for your own digital collection versus the way you stream music today from your mobile device via Airplay, is that you don't need to keep your mobile device around other than to remote to control what to want to play and against which DLNA receiver (a "DLNAble" speaker, streamer or HiFi amplifier).
Unfortunately major players in the music entertainment are not doing enough to support its development, the standard has not evolved since ages. The main limitation i'm finding using DLNA when you have a large digital music collection, is how "painful" it is to select what you want to listen to at a particular moment because most of the DLNA servers do not offer clever way to navigate inside your collection. This also assumes that you have a very well curated music collection, well tagged, which is time consuming. In the internet streaming world, music providers are doing this job for you to ease your navigation ...
B&O released the BS Moment which was really helping on this front, unfortunately they dropped this excellent concept (it was never really finished)
I would recommend Minimserver DLNA server, it requires a minimum tech skills, but it has more and clever navigation options than any other DLNA servers. You should have a look, it runs on a computer as well as on different well known NAS, as your collection grows.
You also have other solutions like Plex or Roon, which are kind of Deezer or Spotify at home. I'm personally using Plex/Plexamp and I had no problems switching from DLNA to Airplay as this solution brings me so many new options for listening to my music, it is simply unbelievable.

Yes, I am aware. I wrote multiroom. Not stereo. I know where I can find stereo in the B&O app. So my main concern is really multiroom.
Hiort: Out of topic for this thread but for using DLNA you need to have your music on e.g a NAS. That NAS most likely will have a music server using DLNA. This will enable the app to access your music files and they will appear under the Music tab, far down under the Deezer content.

I apologize, my intention was not to divert from the beta testing but to learn if I can add my input in a context.
Thank you for the visually charged example and clarifying its functionality. I’ve learned a lot today! :)

Just to clarify, in iOS Apple has the standard «Music» app in which they have started offering the «Apple Music» subscription service. I don’t use the subscription service so I was simply referring to the local «Music» app that I synchronize my audio files to. I know it would be insane to expect that there would be any possibility to BeoLink from there directly. I only became aware of the challenge now that I was looking into multiroom. So I do hope B&O can fix the missing option to activate AirPlay multiroom for the Balance so that I can initiate a multiroom setup with a Balance.

Again, thanks a lot for the insight and explaining this option. The entire discussion has given me some things to think about, when it comes to how exactly I want to consume my music catalog and what solutions exist that I have not been familiar with. When it comes to DLNA, I do have a sort of semi-organized music catalog, but I see your point why this could be difficult to maintain. In any case, thank you for providing some names. I’ll have something to explore during my Christmas holiday :). Until then I’m happy I can «beolink» my Balance in two scenarios that have been a priority for me and that I would not have been able to do earlier.

My BL28 are stereo paired and wisa connected with beta sw without problems.
Yeah that's an option.
But I must do a reset for the Secondary speaker to get it work again.
Its the second time I di that.
Then , from Apple TV. I have echo when I use all four speakers.
BL 28 powerlink
Bl 17 wireless powerlink
Had that not before Beta.
But tit just from SVT play and TV4 app....

Carolpa: . This reads like you Airplay to the BL28 and and to your tv separately. Aren't the BL28 part of your tv setup? Then I would only Airplay to the tv and make for example a speaker-group in your tv with only stereo settings for the speakers (BL17 front left/right, BL28 front left/right).

I wonder if they need any of the impacted devices to be online during the beta testing for them to access logs at their convenience, or if they are able to reach out to us for questions. I managed to report my issue yesterday in the end, and also included my email address.
Otherwise I am very impressed with this beta program! First they give us a possibility to contribute. Second, they update the B&O app as a means to interact. Third, they actually read feedback, and actively look into solutions, like your example shows. If this does not mean B&O listening to customers, than what does? It also required good leadership for the project and good decisions, not just developers doing their job.
Terrific work from B&O in my opinion!

Something like this
@Carolpa: seems like possibly a redundant question, but I will ask still - this BS9000 "integration" into Halo assumes BS9000 is connected to the BLC ML/NL Converter, right? And also: do you need BLI to do it with Halo or it recognizes BLC?
