Hi all,
I previously posted about a broken power switch. Unable to find one, so I fashioned something just to get power on. What I see know is that the standby light comes on when I supply power. But it goes out as soon as I hit any of the input buttons (FM1-5, phono, tape). No lights until I disconnect power and power up again. Then the standby light comes back on again until I hit an input button. Then all dark again.
Any suggestions where to start checking?
Thanks,

I've noticed a lot of looks, but no replies. Has anyone had any experience similar to mine? Is there a logical starting point to troubleshoot it?
It seems to be getting power as it goes directly to standby on power up, but no signs of life (standby light goes out) upon touching any of the input buttons.
Thanks
Check here, you will have to do the same
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
A weak or rippled voltage, shorted voltage regulator or output stage, bad capacitors.Very difficult to tell exactly without measuring around a bit.

I have a beomaster 2400 (with a construction really similar to the 1900) that was doing basically the same thing: it was powering on, then I would select a channel and it would goes to standby after 1 or 2 secs. or instantly... I connected a pair of headphones to see if I had any output during that short period of time... It appeared that the left channel was working fine during that brief period and the other one was just making a big "Thump!" with nothing after...
Dillen and Soren on this site suggested to change all caps before checking anything else, so I grabbed a kit from Dillen and changed EVERY one of them, including bulbs and rectifier. It now performs flawlessly. I didn't find it that complicated to service, even though I have a minimum of experience in electronic...
