Hello
i have inherited a beogram 6500 system, with Penta speakers. Tape, cd and amp.
I also have the master control panel.
its worked in the past but following the power being disconnected its not working, remote says "no contact"
In the past I used my in-laws beo 4 controller and successfully reset it, so that I could use the master control panel again. I can't remember how I did It!!!
Tried googling this but never quite get the right info.
Any help would be most appreciated. The systems a lovely big ornament at the moment...

It could be several things, or their combination.
There could be a bad capacitor inside the Beomaster, on the IR PCB.
Same thing inside the MCP.
Also, the MCP and Beomaster IR windows can become dirty inside!

Simple things first... the Beomaster has possibly forgot its option setting.
To reprogram it to the correct option setting (A.OPT 1) with a Beo4:
Now the remotes will hopefully work again.
Of course, the Beomaster should keep this setting over a power interruption. The backup battery is probably dead, but replacing it will be a lot more difficult than the steps above.

Yes - or do what most B&O engineers do and keep a Beolink 1000 spare - Sound 1 Store. Much easier!!

For completeness, another tip:
if you don't have a B&O TV in the same setup, you might consider using option 2 instead of 1. Then you can conveniently switch the Beomaster to AUX with the TV button on the remote (MCPs have a direct AUX button, but most of the other remotes don't). Very logical to use if you happen to have a 3rd party TV set connected to the AUX for better sound through the B&O audio.

I followed your instruction with Beomaster confirmed and displayed °1, however, MCP 6500 still show "No Contact". Could this be some parts are broken? Is there an alternative to your instruction stated here?

Once the Beomaster has acknowledged the setting update just as you saw, the configuration is OK and things should just work.
If it still doesn't, it could be a problem either in the MCP or the Beomaster. I believe it is safe to say that all BM6500s will be ripe for capacitor overhaul by now, and the MCPs can fail similarly as well.
