Hi,
I just bought a beautiful BeoMaster 1900, all the sliders, buttons and light bulbs works like a charm, the FM radio gives good sound. I have opened both the top and button cover and circuits looks like they are in good condition.
But the tape in gives no sound. When set on either the phono or tape input the beomaster produces a monotone humming sound. When touching the jack end of the DIN - mini-jack cable I have plugged in to the tape input no static sounds are heard.
Any suggestions to what might be wrong?

Could be that the DIN/Jack adapter has been wired to use the output pins rather than the input pins of the DIN.

Just bought the cable today, the package said "5 pin DIN plug to 3.5mm stereo plug, 1.5m". That should be correct, right?
Depends on the direction of the signal it carries.Of the 5 pins in the DIN, two pins carry record signals (output from Beomaster), two otherpins carry playback signals (input to Beomaster).Last pin is a ground.
If your adapter is using the record pins (meant to carry signals from the Beomaster tothe external device), it won't work.
Thanks for the quick answers. Understand that the wiring can be wrong, do you know which pins carry the playback signal?
I bought this cable: https://www.elextra.dk/main.aspx?page=article&artno=H28223 (page in Danish), the pins are 1+4+2 wired, is that correct? Or should I look for a new cable?
Pins 1 and 4 are indeed the ones carrying the record signal. That adapter is wrongly advertized.
Another thing is that the page states that the adapter is not shielded which, with a lengthof 1,5 meters means that it may easily pick up lots of radio freq. signals (antenna function), causinghissing and/or humming noises.
