These are such awesome speakers. I'm on my second pair and they are still my favourite. The first pair I had I played around with the potentiometers and found a good amount of bass... however, just like you say, their "lack of bass" isn't necessarily a bad thing, and it does make them incredibly accurate. My current pair is set to all the factory settings and they are in a small room with low ceilings. Surprisingly they sound perfect even in the small space and I enjoy them very very much. If I didn't have to worry about my neighbours they would be up at higher volumes more often, because their sound fills and vibrates the entire house. They do sound shrieky at high volume of you are standing in front of them but that effect isn't there when you have them on and are moving around other parts of the house.

Great video, and great speakers. I even frequently find myself listening to my 1s instead of my 50s. I know that is bizarre. Somehow, I find the 1s more relaxing to listen to.

Just a heads-up: these potentiometers are there for making adjustments on the production line for differences in amplifier gains and driver sensitivities. The adjustments were made based on measurements of the loudspeaker's response differences relative to the intended sound design so that they match the specification.

This doesn't mean that you shouldn't adjust them to suit your tastes - they're your loudspeakers.

However, if you ever sell them, it would be polite to return the pots to their original setting, otherwise you're not selling a pair of Beloab 1s.

This kind of ”secret control” are that fore a reason..

and you have them on all older active b&o speaker to calibrate drivers ( one driver is not equal to another)

not to adjust sound for preferens 

as Geoff martin say it’s your speaker but can you get it back then you sell them?

Hi Geoff,

I agree entirely.  For this reason, I made sure to emphasise in my video that it is important to carefully record the settings for each individual speaker so that they can be returned to factory settings at any point.

If the original settings become forgotten, then all is not lost.  However, things do become a little trickier, as you would need to remove each speaker driver, note the calibration markings and look these up in the chart within the Beolab 1 Service Manual to obtain the correct adjustment settings.  Hence, it is always best to note the factory settings on the speaker for easy reference!
