I posted here about a repair nightmare I was having last year: https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/44755/324437.aspx#324437
So after sending the turntable away in April 2020 for what was supposed to be a 2-3 week job, I finally got the turntable back today, in December 2021, over a year and a half later. This repairman would avoid my emails for months on end, give never-ending excuses for why he could not return it which would all contradict each other (e.g. lying about not being in the country and then immediately saying he had never left; including return postage in the original price and then refusing to post unless I paid again for return postage, then getting angry when I asked for reassurance that he would actually post it if I paid for a label, then not actually posting it when I bought the label until the label expired; calling me an idiot when I asked him to explain an obvious lie; calling me a stalker when I asked him to return my turntable at the one year mark....it goes on).
Of course, it still doesn't work. It's actually in worse state than it was when I sent it. The repairman claimed to have spent many hours thoroughly cleaning the internals, but it's covered in dust and dirt.
The belt that had been on it when I sent it is gone. So is the power switch on the back. In addition, the button plate has been ripped off, and the little plastic switches underneath are haphazardly either half stuck onto the plate or rattling loose around the turntable. I don't believe there was any reason to take this off, as the repair was supposed to be to the servo for the arm, on the other end of the turntable, which makes me think he might have taken working components from my beogram to use in another, as he sells beograms he has repaired on his ebay.
Not really sure what I can do about it, I'm not sure if it's worth pursuing legally due to the value of it, but it's incredibly frustrating and saddening to have paid this man for a repair, to have him keep it for so long, over which time he became increasingly rude and called me childish names whenever I asked for it back, just to have it returned in a worse state than ever. I won't post his name here at this stage, because I'm not sure what action I'm going to take, but he is still actively advertising his services as a repairman for bang and olufsen equipment, so depending on what happens next I may post the name of his shop along with screenshots of our conversations to try and make sure others here don't get taken advantage of like this.
Thank you! It really has been awful, and there's a lot more that hasn't been included above to keep it short, I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
Well, I think the first thing to do, to make yourself feel better, is to send the offending person a revenge glitter bomb...

Have you told us who this 'repair' person is, yet?
I'd like to avoid this person, as I'm sure many on here would...
I haven't yet, still waiting to hear back from him after I asked why it had been sent back with parts missing, will likely go to the police after that, not sure if it's a good idea to name and shame him before that. But if you're looking something repaired in the UK and are worried, feel free to message me and I'll pass on the name privately.
Hahaha glitter would almost be too kind...
