Dear All,

My centre speaker, Beolab 7-2 has stopped working. I've removed the small rubber bung next to the connection sockets & observed the led illuminate red, and then green when the system is turned on, but alas no sound comes from the speaker.

I'm guessing it will need to go off to a specialist engineer for repair, however I wondered if anyone here might have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any advice or opinions.

Kind regards

Julian

Hi Julian,

These are the things I would check:

- Could someone have changed the default sound mode / speaker group, to one that doesn’t include the centre channel? (Assuming that your BL 7-2 is defined as CENTRE and not LEFT/RIGHT.)

- Go into the speaker setup menu to set the relative loudness of each speaker. Does sound come from the BL 7-2?

- Check that the Powerlink cable is fully inserted into both the speaker and the TV / source. Is it plugged into the correct socket at the TV /source?

- Try swapping the Powerlink cable with a known working one.

Hi Lawrence,

Thank you for taking the time to respond.

I should have mentioned in my first post that I have tested the system with a substitute speaker & get sound from the centre channel, confirming the cabling and settings are good.

FWIW I have test connected the 7-2 to an alternate B&O source & the response is the same, red LED in standby, switching to green for active source but still no sound.

Thanks again for your time,

Kind regards

Julian

Oh dear - indeed it looks like repair is needed. How unfortunate.
