Hey - I’m told in the app that 3.1 is ready

https://www.dropbox.com/s/s5ekyb7jnrmq7dx/IMG_0775.PNG?dl=0

but it’s not downloading…is this update for real or not? The description is kind of odd?

Anyone here with experience?

Thanks!

:)

3.1.0.1001 has been out since June. The latest version is 3.1.0.1075, which I have already installed on my BeoLab 50s (though not on my 90s, which I have kept on 3.0.0.616 due to some odd behaviours in 3.1.0.1001).

Thanks - did you update through the app?

Do you know if it’s possible to use a USB key to update?

thanks

if you are on iOS, you may be able to search/see the original Beolab90 App.

This is the same app you see in the B&O App but without the wrapper.

The original Beolab90 app is more stable.

It is also possible to access the Beolab90 web access page............ which is also a good way.

Web interface access to the BeoLab 90

Using a computer or hand held device with a web browser installed the web interface of the BeoLab 90 can be accessed The BeoLab 90 web

interface is used for selecting and setup of: Presets, Input and other user functions.

The BeoLab 90 Master must be connected by a LAN cable to the home router/AP and the computer must likewise be connected to the home

router/AP either by a LAN cable or wirelessly. Hand held devices with a web browser may also be used and connected to the home router/AP.

The hand held device/computer gets access to the Web server using a web-browser (Google Chrome or Safari) and in the address field enter:

http://<BeoLab 90 IP address>, where

- <BeoLab 90 IP address> = the address assigned by the home router.

- With an iOS platform:

- in the address field enter the IP address

- from AppStore get the BeoLab90 App (App will connect to the

Web interface.

The <BeoLab 90 IP address> can be found using a freeware program, either "Discover digital networks" or "Fing".

Navigating the Web interface

Note: The App dialogues are used by the end-user as well as the installer.

Initially the Preset dialogue is shown; see next page.

Using the back button in the top left corner, leads to the front page, the so called Device dialogue that is named

BeoLab 90 <Serial No.>.

From the Device page the dialogues: Preset, Input and System dialogue can be opened by pressing .

This is always a great way of accessing them if you didn’t know you could. A lot of b&o products are available that way tooBig Smile

That's great - I didn't know that was possible.Thanks!

Though, it did not make a difference to the update. B&O support tells me (clearly without reading the ticket) that I should update via the app - exactly like I tried to do.
Since my BL90's are out of warrenty, they also told me that I'd have to pay if I wanted additional help. Considering how much these speakers cost I find that a bit annoying.

Perhaps the juice is not worth the squeeze :) I mean, the update is most likely not making any fundamental changes. I just find it odd that such a quality/design focused company can not build a process for something so trivial.

I am starting to feel like the dummy they describe... :)

I dont know who told you this information?

1. You are entitled to all updates as long as they are made/released. My BL90s are from 2016 - and are some of the oldest on the market. I still get updates. Warranty has nothing to do it. In fact, I remember giving B&O a big fight because the software was not fully functional for 12 months post release (IT GOES BOTH WAYS). In fact, I believe there is still some functionality that has not been rolled-out in an update since the product release date (6 years now) that was going to issued but has not been.

2. You can update via the web access. It is an official B&O method. the cut/paste below if from them. Just type your BL90 IP address on your PC i.e.  "http://192.168.xxx.xxx/"

3. B&O support is free of charge. If you want your Dealer to update for you - then you are talking about a service and yes - I suspect they will charge for that.

4. Updating is a User proscribed process. (Manual or automatic). I suspect the latest version does very little - maybe integration with a new product or third party control? I dont notice any change over the update.

5. Try deleting the B&O app. A bit of a pain but sometimes this improves functionality. I have a lot of APPs (non-B&O) which behave like this. It works more often than not

6. Try and ensure the BL90s are connected by a Network LAN and Wifi. Set update to automatic. It may not update but if anyhting else does come out, the BL90s will collect it.

I asked my dealer to send me 3.1.0.1001 via WeTransfer when it came out. I installed it via USB sticks and then rolled my Lab 90s back to 3.0.0.616 when a couple of its behaviours annoyed me.

I left my Lab 50s on 3.1.0.1001 and since then they have automatically updated themselves to 3.1.0.1075 at some point.

Caveat Emptor,

Gutsy one to try but I wonder if a factory reset of the BL90 will force a complete update?

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear. I know I am entitled to updates, but if they do not install correctly I am not entitled to help/support.
I've tried complete factory reset, reinstall of app, through web etc etc - all the same result. I think I will just live with 3.0 :)

Do what politician did, ask for your dealer to send it to you through email, it’s like 3-5mb or something small like that. Format a usb stick, drag and drop and stick it in. The speakers will write a txt file once done so you can check once it’s all done. Super easyYes - thumbs up
