I have an 8002 that has just one annoying flaw, the front right edge of the dust cover just contacts the controls area as it is closing.

On earlier models, that alignment is fixed by loosening the screws that hold the whole of the dust cover and hinge in place and adjusting as required.

Because the whole of the top of the 8002 tilts out of the way for service that doesn't apply.

What's the recommended way of fixing a slight out-of-alignment please?

The Beogram 8000 and 8002 turntables have the same dust cover and tonearm compartment lid design.
Both lids attach to a bracket on the back of the Beogram 800x cabinet via a long, hinge rod.
There are no adjustment screws for the lid positioning.  Just an adjustment for the spring tension in the arm lowering mechanism.

It is very tempting when working on disassembly of a Beogram 800x to take off that rear mounting bracket but it really should be left alone.
I have seen a lot of those where the plastic tabs that help secure it to the Beogram cabinet have broken off.
The result of a compromised rear bracket (one that isn't secure) will be a dust cover that doesn't fit correctly.

I have also seen a couple of Beogram 800x dust cover assemblies where the mounting points for the metal hinge rod have been damaged.
That also results in an improper fit of the dust cover.

Check how straight the hinge rod is and each segment the rod passes through that secures the dust cover in place with the rear mounting bracket.
Also check if there is play (forward and backward) of the mounting bracket when the dust cover is raised and lowered.
There should not be any play in that direction.

If the rear mounting bracket is compromised where it won't stay in place then you can look at permanently mounting the bracket to the back of the cabinet.  Just don't do that without checking that everything will fit and move properly after securing it.

sonavor, thank you very much. I'll check the points you noted. Is there any possibility that the top and side of the control module could be out of alignment?

The control panel should align to the raised molded cabinet frame.  It just snaps in place via clips in the opening.  The raised section of the cabinet for the control panel is the same width as the panel so there isn't anything to align there.

Here are a couple of links to some Beogram 8002 restorations.  First linkSecond Link.
