Hello,
I just wonder what is inside B&O Harmony. It looks like connection-wise that it is more or less a Beosystem 4.
My question is now, is there any MK differences for the Harmony if bought with a 4k TV or with the latest 8k LG TV.
In other words, is the Harmony only used for sound processing and the picture gets handled solely by the TV in a way that you can upgrade the TV and still keep the Harmony?
Thanks for your thoughts
There is no diffrence on the Harmony, only the panel from LG.
The Soundcenter/Beosystem 4 does only have HDMI 2.0, so to connect 8K you have to connect directly to the Z1 Panel.
In my setup I have my PS5 directly to the GX panel so I can transfer 120HZ. No problem.
So yes you can update the panel later on, when it is more reasontly priced.
Beovision Harmony 77" 2nd Gen, Beolab 5, Beolab 17, Beosound 1, Beoplay M3, Beoplay Portal, Beoplay Earset, Beoliving Intelligence
Thanks so much for your reply, that is great to know. That brings up another idea. I do have an bv12 NG with a Beosystem 4. By any chance would a Pannel upgrade to a LG GX be possible with the old BS4 as well, using the BS4 as a surround audio server and still operate everything with the BeoRemote one?
Sorry this is not possible, there have been several changes.
Ok, was worth exploring, though quite sad. Anyhow, you mentioned in your earlier post that "for 8k you have to connect directly to the Z1 Panel" can you enlighten me a bit more, what is this Z1 Panel exacly?
Or to keep it simpler for me, if I am to upgrade the GX panel, the Video Signal does not go through the Soundcenter, only sound, is that correct?
So the LG Z1 or ZX is the 8K panel very expensive.
The GX is now G1.
You can run the video signal through the Soundcenter, and you will do that when you want to use PUC control.
But in the future if we get 8K content, or as in my case some gaming advances with new gen console, you can put the source directly to the display, and the sound will go to the soundcenter through EARC.
The LG Z1 Is a 8K OLED Model, very expensive
The GX is now called LG G1
If you want to use PUC you will have video signal going to the soundcenter, I have that with my Apple TV.
But if you have a device that can utilize HDMI 2.1 you want it connected directly to the panel. This only include PS5 and Xbox Series X so far.
The sound will then be transfered with EARC to the Soundcenter

Hello, I am sure that there are people that use a BS3 that way. The TV is used as a 'video hub' with all video sources connected, and the BS3 manages the sound (using the digital sound out of the TV) and the controlling (through PUC or Peripheral Unit Control). Maybe some BS4 users can confirm they do the same?
Ok, thanks for your kind help
