Hello, my first post on the forum. Having recently acquired a 7-40 MK2 with a motorised floor stand I have a question regarding the stand's operation.
When the set is turned on it will rotate towards the right (as I view it) but will not then rotate to the left when I press the remote. It will however rotate to the left when I turn the set off!. Also if I tilt the screen using the remote, it will move down, but not up. Once again when turning it off the screen then tilts back up to it's parked position.
I have tried calibrating it but the screen still does not respond to the turn left/tilt up command from the remote.
I have tried another remote, kept from my previous Avant, but the result is the same so I'm a little perplexed as to what the cause could be.
Looking through the many threads on here I can't find any similar reference to a fault such as this, so I wonder if anyone else has had this problem in the past?
Cheers
Robert
HI and welcome to Beoworld!
You're right - we don't see many stand problems here!
However, I had a rare non-responsive stand when I set up a BV6-26 the other day. The solution was to turn the TV off at the mains, wait two minutes and then reconnect, then re-install the stand in the menu. (This solution is also mentioned in the BV7-40 Mk2 service manual.)
Worth a try?
Hello, thanks for the quick reply, the stand automatically appears on the menu after I plug it back in, without me re installing it as such. If I go to the calibration page and move the screen manually the blue square moves as the screen moves, so it does seem to recognise that the stand is moving.
The cable between screen and stand does feel a bit 'loose' at the screen end, and I have reversed it to see if it was a bad connection, but it hasn't made any difference.
Now I am slightly confused!
Firstly the stand connection should not be reversible - it only plugs into the TV one way.
Secondly, when you said earlier that you 'calibrated' the stand - have you gone into the Stand Adjustment Menu and clicked on Centre Position - whereupon the stand should automatically turn all the way to the left, then all the way to the right, and finally revert to the centre?
Further to my last, you may have to reset the TV to default to force the 'first time setup' process that includes the stand adjustment (calibration) menu.
There's also the possibility to calibrate the stand in the Service Mode. To get to Service Mode, select any Setup Menu and then on the Beo4 press 0 0 Go within 3 seconds. Then scroll to STAND and you should be able to carry out the calibration process.
Sorry, I was thinking of the speaker lead! And just to confuse you further, I can't see 'centre position' anywhere in the stand adjustment menus..

Try the 'Service Mode' that I just mentioned - sorry for so many successive posts!
No problem with your posts, this is all new to me! I can get to the service menu ok, there's no stand tag on there!

In that case it is probably worth doing a 'reset to default' which should be somewhere in the service menu. Be aware that you will lose any tuned channels and other setup such as connections.
Once reset to default, the 'Stand Adjustment' menu should come up (if the stand is connected) allow you to perform stand calibration.
Reset it and now it's working! Well, the stand is but now I've forgotten how I set the Freesat box up so back to the drawing board! Many thanks for the advice Guy.
Great news - happy to help!
You now want the 'connections' menu, and then chose the relevant 'STB' option from the list. That bit is all in the User Manual if you have a copy. (The stand stuff was in the Service Manual.)
I need to go out in a minute but if you have problems with the Freesat setup then post again here and I am sure that someone will help!
All done now, easier than I thought!

Excellent - stick around on the forum and before you know it you'll be helping others!
