Hi there,
Great forum! Lots of interesting threads
I have been trying to search through the forums for a solutions but couldn’t find the answer.
My issue is fan noise which I have researched enough to understand is potentially coming from the DVB.
So I discovered in one of the threads that an update could be the solution. Hence it’s not adjustable in the service menu. It’s currently running, 1.4.7. But I can’t seem to get it to update. I downloaded the files to an usb and feel that I have tried all combinations but no luck. It won’t start updating.
FYI I don’t use the DVB, would it be possible to just remove it, or jam the fan of it?
Best Regards
Christian
Hi and welcome to Beoworld!
I just had a quick look at the Service Manuals for both the Mk1 and Mk2 BV8-40. They state that FAN ADJUSTMENT should be an option in the Service Menu of each.
Are you sure that you are looking in the Service Menu, not the Customer Service Menu?
IIRC, Service Menu is accessed via MENU 0 0 GO.
Thank you and thanks for the reply.
I have been inside the service menus. And seen the fan speed etc. everything is fine there. I’ll try and see if I can find the thread with people discussing a third fan which was located inside the DVB or at least “connected” with it. They discuss than an update to the DVB fixed the problem.
Which brings me to the usb update that the tv doesn’t seem to recognize??
Best regards
I can't suggest anything else, but I presume the thread you are referring to is this one: https://archivedarchivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/39798/330503.aspx#330503

Forgive me asking, but did you 'unzip' the files to a USB, or just download the zipped folder?
(I only realised after prompting from your post that the DVB HD SW on my BV10 was out of date, hence have just updated from 0.1.8.9 to 0.1.9.9 with no problems - I didn't realise that updated SW was available from B&O for such an 'old' TV!)
Yes that is the post!
haha no worries, yea I have tried unzipping it. Keep all files in a folder, separate the files, formatting the usb to fat and ntsc etc. No recognition. I can see the lights come on when I put it in. But when I press “control or check” new updates on the screen nothing happens. Also no lights flash on the usb. Just no new updates available. it’s a 64gb usb. Is the tv too old to be able to work with that perhaps.
I get you, nobody check for updates anymore now when everything is automated or prompt you that an update is available

That is possible - I have been using a 2GB USB stick (USB2.0), FAT formatted. I extracted straight to the USB so the contents looked like this:
